You can get great results even with the free version. (I’ve beat WP Rocket with only the Swift free version many times.)

It’s difficult to diagnose as the plugin works on some servers and not on others. Sometimes, cron doesn’t run as expected. Other times, it runs but scans the same pages. I don’t have enough time to diagnose and I feel bad harassing a free plugin for support. For the main sites where I need it most, the plugin is working well enough for me.

I’ve cleared out the entire website directory and the space is still not given back. Where else could this thing be eating up space?

Yes, that’s exactly where it was hanging! Please tell me where to go on the server to delete the giant temporary file.
I did finally get the backup working, btw. I simply exported again without database and then manually imported it.
