In reply to: Shortlinks stopped workingFrom a tip provided elsewhere on the support forum:
I copied the module.wordpress_routing.php file from a site using an older
version of Nextgen.Seems to work perfectly without causing any other problems
Thanks for the tip, Estrella.

In reply to: Shortlinks stopped workingNextgen gallery is the problem – shortlinks work ok with it disabled. It must have been the last update 18th August – sadly I don’t have an earlier version to roll back to. Lesson learned !!
Looks like I’ll have to wait for a fix, luckily it’s an inconvenience rather than a disaster.Same problem – I’ve found all my shortlinks stop working with Nextgen activated. I use shortlinks mainly on Twitter and press releases where a long, understandable url is not really appropriate,e.g https://twitter.com/trimdontimes
An inconvenience rather than a disaster, but a fix would be appreciated 🙂Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Total number of pages/photos possible? Thanks esmi and Gabe, that gives me more confidence to continue.
As I’ve got to copy/paste content page by page it wasn’t a task I wanted to take lightly, but the flexibilty of WordPress with its responsive themes and widgets appears to make it the best option long-term.
(No more having to build secondary mobile-specific sites)No doubt I’ll be back with more questions if I get stuck on something !!

In reply to: Total number of pages/photos possible? Thanks for your reply.
I’ve no concerns with server load or database size, and my pics are already sized and optimised.
It was simply the WordPress platform I was wondering about – I know it’s a popular blogging platform, and I’ve seen it used on several other sites for serving ‘static’ pages, but I couldn’t find any mention on ww.wp.xz.cn or forums about maximum page numbers etc.As you will understand, I don’t want to transfer a couple of hundred pages and then find I’ve hit a limit 🙂
Thanks,
Ken
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Install fails every time…?Thanks for the replies – even the obvious one about how to install WordPress…. 😉
What’s the exact error message? Could you provide with the screenshot?
As I mentioned above, it threw up different errors regarding comment.php, but with a different line number each time.
The problem turned out to be with the 1and1 webserver and its php installation, which has now been sorted by 1and1 and WordPress now works as expected.
Thanks
