This is where software developers and end users have different expectations. Account ID may not be related to the Mastodon API, but it is related to Mastodon. When it’s unclear whether the required credential is from Mastodon or WordPress, it’s confusing to the end user.
I followed the numbered setup guide. It doesn’t mention that you can retrieve the Account ID via the TootPress Backend Tools. The user isn’t pointed to the Tools until it’s time to do a first run of the plugin.
Thanks for the reply. I’ve decided that I need something that makes posts rather than adds entries to a page.
