I don’t see any changes in the code on the page https://rankmath.com/kb/polylang-compatibility/ . It is identical to what was there on February 3rd.

I delved into the problem in more detail. The theme placeholder image is added to the sitemap automatically (if in the Rank math settings – Image in Sitemap is activated). I see that this image is added not for all pages, but only for those where there are Gutenberg blocks. Not all Gutenberg blocks with images, but only those that add Woocommerce products (standard from the plugin; or from the theme, which also add products)
For example, the standard Woocommerce Gutenberg block – Product Collection
HTML elements: nav too. Accidentally missed it on the list.
I often wrap manual Table of contents in a nav. And I wrap manual FAQs in a section or article. This is a good practice for semantic layout.
