I think I figured it out. Insert your slideshow using the Insert Slideshow button on the Edit page. Don’t type the code or copy/paste code from another page. I’m not sure what theme you are using, but in Weaver 2010 the white space at the top happens when I use the 2-column template. The slideshow works fine (no white space) with all the other templates.
I am having the same problem. I’ve tried editing different parts of the code and nothing works.
