Exactly the same issue here. I had my host update ImageMagick to the latest 6.8.x, but that didn’t solve it. In the mean time, I can’t update my site and it’s getting so frustraing =(
I’m having the exact same problem. This also seems to affect thumbnails and featured images for posts. Also when viewing the media browser the images that are “erroneously uploaded” in this way don’t show their dimensions which may be related. Please help — this is a show stopper on my site =(
