Hi @tombcm. Thanks for the feedback. We’ve actually had a couple of other users reach out to us to mention this as well. There are a few things to note about the tab:
- The tab should not have been displayed to users of Uncanny Automator Lite (free version). That was a mistake, and is now fixed.
- I don’t know whether you are on the Lite or Pro version, but if you’re on Pro, you can turn off the tab at Automator > Settings > Uncanny Agent > Uncanny Agent launcher tab [Enabled/Disabled].
- The tab is simply a static link that opens the Uncanny Agent window; Uncanny Agent does not actually load on your site until you open the window AND send a message.
When deciding how to surface Uncanny Agent, we made a choice to put a link in a more prominent location than in the admin top bar (as most plugins do). One of the things we quickly learned with the tab in such a non-standard location is that some users are, understandably, concerned that the tab is loading Uncanny Agent on every page. So we are updating our messaging and making adjustments to how Uncanny Agent is launched to address this.
Sorry about that, and thanks again for the feedback!
Hi Andrew, thanks for the feedback.
We did a lot of work to make sure Uncanny Automator worked well with Thrive products. However, the specific workflow you are trying to build that bridges two sites and involves Thrive Apprentice may well have been easier to build with Thrive Automator; we unfortunately did not optimize for site-to-site workflows when expanding our Thrive compatibility. That said, many users have had great success with Uncanny Automator, including the vast majority that have left a review.
We’ve been working with you via our support system, as the site-to-site workflow you are having trouble with is a feature of Uncanny Automator Pro, the paid version of Uncanny Automator. We’ve offered to make changes to the plugin if necessary to support your workflow. And although you’re outside of the 14-day refund window, if you prefer, we’re also happy to make an exception to that policy as we want to make sure you’re fully satisfied.
Please let us know, either or via our help desk system.
Hi @lizzy-belle, I’m really sorry for the issue you ran into here.
Uncanny Automator does not require you to connect your account unless you want to use App integrations, and only then, it’s only so we can commission the free credits you get when you create an account. Once the account is created, there is no further dependence on automatorplugin.com; App automations are handled by our API server which has a failover for redundancy. If you’re only using plugin integrations, there is no reliance on any external server for any automations.
For a more technical explanation of what happened, we migrated the site to a new host last week, and unfortunately yesterday night we overshot their server resources and auto-scaling, which caused the DB service to crash. We’re investigating why the DB service did not auto-recover.
As far as I know, this is the first time in our history that our site has been down for more than a few minutes, and maybe the only time that it was due to something that should have been within our control.
Again, I apologize that you ran into the issue that you did, but I can assure you that this is a major anomaly and that we’re going take whatever steps we can to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Hi @titchmash, thanks for the review! We’re always looking for ways to improve Automator, so thank you also for the feedback! We’ll take that into account when we review our offerings.
Hi @dmitrydzh, can you try going to Automator > Status > Tools and clicking the small trash icon next to the 4 database “views” ? That should allow a backup/migration to work.
If you’re still seeing an error after trying the backup again, please provide the error message in your debug log so we can troubleshoot it further.
Hi @buylov, thanks for reaching out!
We do have some very exciting things in the works related to AI. You should see some of those come to fruition this year. 🙂
Can you go into a bit more detail about support for vector databases? How would you envision using a vector database in the context of a recipe?
Hi @submon, thanks for following up.
You’ll see in our changelog that we did release a fix for this in version 6.5.0. However, we identified an issue with that fix that was causing some triggers to not fire, so we had to revert that fix in version 6.5.0.2. Unfortunately, due to the way Uncanny Automator works by hooking into other plugins, it’s a more challenging problem that we had originally anticipated.
We do have another fix in the works though, so we’re hoping we can get that resolved in the near future.
Hi @fff654, thanks for your feedback! We do agree that Uncanny Automator is the best automation solution out there for those that like to keep as much control over their own data as possible. 🙂 We’re also one of the few (maybe the only?) that offers easy app connections plus unlimited automations, on a low annual fee (most others hit your bank account monthly)!
We hear you about the visual builder. I don’t want to say too much, but we may have something in the works there. 🤫
Thanks for your support!
Hi @danielvos,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This vulnerability was patched in version 6.5.0, released May 9. I traced our communication with Patchstack and while we told them a patch was imminent, unfortunately we didn’t confirm with them after the patch had been released. We’ve updated our changelog with the CVE number and notified Patchstack to update the vulnerability report, which will hopefully happen soon. We’ve updated our internal processes to make sure the communication loop gets closed on any vulnerability reports. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Ken
Hi @cadrago21,
Sorry you’re experiencing this issue! There are a couple of things at work here:
- We need to update the loading of translations for compatibility with WordPress 6.7.0, which will happen with the next release, due out next week.
- The notice is breaking your theme because it’s being output in places that cause the layout to break.
#2 could be fixed immediately if you disable debug output on your WordPress site. You’d want to set WP_DEBUG to “false” in your wp-config.php file. There’s some additional info on this here: https://developer.ww.wp.xz.cn/advanced-administration/debug/debug-wordpress/, but you could also ask your webhost’s support for help if you’re not comfortable making that change yourself. Alternatively, you could wait until the next release and update Automator, and that would also fix the issue.
Please let us know if you run into any other issues.
Thanks,
KenHi @grandadmiral12345, just wanted to let you know we’ve added Threads, Discord and just last week, Bluesky. 🙂
Hi @grandadmiral12345, thanks for reaching out. We’re a bit behind on our documentation, but we’re working hard to catch up over the next few weeks. You should see this article by the end of this week.
In the meantime, if you have any specific questions about any of the options in the “Create a post on BlueSky” action, we can answer them here for you. 🙂
Hi @netiv, thanks for your interest in Uncanny Automator! The short answer to your question is…it’s complicated. 🙂
First of all, Uncanny Automator does not include a form builder, so you would need to have a separate form builder plugin to build the front-end component of the trip wizard. Uncanny Automator does integrate with quite a few form builders, so as long as you have one, you should be good to go.
Second, to give the user the trip recommendations, you would need to either 1) send it via email (which isn’t a bad idea, because this ensures the user enters a valid email address), or create a new page, and then redirect the user to that page once it has been generated. (I assume you plan to generate the trip itinerary using some kind of AI.)
We’re actually working on a new addon that can dynamically display data to the user, which will be available soon (on a Pro plan). This would make it easier to show AI responses to users.
Hope that answers your question!
Hi Julian, that worked great. Thanks for the quick response!
Hi Nelson, there aren’t any known conflicts that we’re aware of. Can you try disabling all plugins except Automator and running a simple recipe – User views a page > Send an email to see if that works? If not, please give us the details on your environment (WordPress version, host, PHP version, etc.) so we can investigate further.
