Thank you! It worked when I switched themes. I had contacted the theme developer first and they tested it and told me to contact the plugin developer. Looks like I need to contact the theme developer again since they recommended the plugin and is supposed to support it.

I deactivated all plugins accept BuddyPress.
I reinstalled Jetpack.
I also get permissions notice when clicking “Connect to WordPress.com.” Site is vicslab.com
