Static background color will work with any color but when switching to image it remains at the chosen color “no image”
I have deleted and reinstalled the plugin on two different installs with the same result.

You need access to the root of your site.
Deactivate the plugin.
Unzip version 2.4
In the root of your site wp-content/plugins
Rename, delete or move the folder “responsive-menu”Upload the unzipped 2.4 folder “responsive-menu” in place of it
Reactivate plugin and you are done….
You will not lose your settings as they are in mysql database
Same problem here… I rolled back to 2.4
