That happened to me too, with a lot less visitors, I believe you should multiply your number of api calls by the number of videos in the playlist or channel, and on top of that I’m suspecting it’s also being triggered by some bot traffic may be.
That being said, after 2 days it calmed down, but I installed a firewall in the meantime and blocked a lot of the useless connections to my site, that might help.
