In reply to: [The Events Calendar] What happened to The Events Calendar? As of now:
I contacted the support to report that the password reset mechanism isn’t working; in response, I received a canned reply telling me to use the password reset mechanism in order to log in. So far, so bad. At least they did mention the one-time code, which I was able to use to log in.
In the new portal, I found a messy license page featuring licenses I’d never heard of before—labeled “Personal,” “Business,” and “Agency”—as well as old licenses that I had actually already cancelled, yet were still marked as “Active,” and so on. None of the licenses are currently assigned to any specific domain. It’s complete chaos.
I didn’t dare take any further action, for fear of breaking something or accidentally triggering unwanted payments.
Fortunately, the licenses still appear as valid on my clients’ websites. I hope it stays that way.Naturally, there is a large button inviting users to switch to the new licenses. Unfortunately, here too, there is no further information regarding which features are included in which license—or, specifically in comparison to the old plans, which license I would need to purchase to retain my current level of functionality.
My inquiries to support regarding these matters went unanswered; even my question about how many domains the prices listed on the website actually cover remained unanswered.I am therefore assuming that the new prices apply on a per-domain basis. This would mean that, for me—as the holder of a 10-site license—prices are likely to skyrocket by somewhere between 500% and 600%; perhaps even more, if I wish to continue using my own custom logo on ticket-mails. However, based on the information provided, I can only make an guess.
The free version of the calendar is no longer mentioned anywhere on the Liquid Web website… so its future looks rather uncertain.
All in all, this unfortunately looks like one of those corporate takeovers where the goal is to squeeze as much money as possible out of customers—who can’t flee fast enough—by drastically hiking up fees, before the product is left to die.
It’s a real shame. The Events Calendar certainly wasn’t always perfect, but it was a very solid product—featuring extremely good support resources (plenty of code examples, etc.)—that I enjoyed using for my clients.
The current communication strategy does not bode well, and it is likely time to start looking for an alternative—and fast.
greetings, volker

In reply to: [OceanWP] No slider for transparencyA few more details: It looks like the slider only disappears in version 4.0.2… it’s still there in 4.0.1. Unfortunately I didn’t find a rollback version.
