Also, my workaround does not seem to work after removing the nasty “define(‘ALLOW_UNFILTERED_UPLOADS’, true);” from wp-config.php.

Ok, found a work around that points to a bug in version 4.9.3, I think.
Works: *Hover your mouse* over “Media” in the left side menu and click “Add new”
Doesn’t Work: *Click* “Media”, click the “Add New” button.
Can anyone else confirm this?

I’m also running 4.9.8 and can upload only .pdf files .png (and presumably others) results in the “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons” error.
I also have tried adding define(‘ALLOW_UNFILTERED_UPLOADS’, true); in wp-config.php out of desperation, but it didn’t help.
Any suggestions or advice would be most appreciated!
