  • MY SOLUTION… I had been tethering the internet from my phone using a USB cable to my laptop as soon as I disconnected the cable and instead used my phones wifi for my laptop the video and text editor appeared and was fully functional. It took over a year for me to find this out on my own. My suggestion is to make sure your internet connection is not obstructed in any way whatsoever. The USB cable was not letting all the information thru in my case. Hope this helps someone else.

Solution Found! Using a USB Tether from Phone To Laptop was the problem, Using Wifi instead was my solution.

paulwpxp thanks for your efforts I figured out what the problem is I had been tethering the internet from my phone to my laptop with a USB Cable as soon I connected the laptop to the Wifi signal coming from the phone everything worked. I had been doing this for over a year now that is why it affected my previous Website as well. Apparently, the USB tether connection was not letting all the data to be read properly by the laptop.

I’m happy to have found the reason for this problem I’ve had for over a year now and able to post this on the Forum so if anyone else is having a similar problem they have the one more thing to check as a Possible Solution.

Well paulwpxp after your last suggestion I did try checking on the antivirus issue for the first time hoping this would end up being the answer Unfortunately it did not work. At one point I turned off the firewall when that didn’t work I turned the antivirus off altogether and as I stated, that didn’t work either.

One thing for sure is the lack of those 2 lines of Source Code on my laptop is the cause of the problem. That the code itself refers to the on and off switch to the missing tabs.

Why WordPress is not seeing the code when on this laptop is still a mystery.

Hey paulwpxp, thanks for everything… I have to go back to that article I referred you to in the beginning and you suggested to put aside for the moment… I went to a Good working Website of mine that I own to do an experiment. After going to the WP Dashboard I right clicked on the area where the Visual & Text editor Tabs are working fine and did an inspect with the Dev Tools and saw the Code the guy referred to in the original article… I did the same thing on “my other site where the problem is” and the Code in the article was not there…

So the question becomes – If I add that string of Code in the place where it is missing do you think it would fix the problem and how and where would I insert it?

    Here’s the original Article again,

    https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/126110/visual-editor-missing-server-side-problem-how-would-you-debug-it/126156?utm_medium=organic&utm_source=google_rich_qa&utm_campaign=google_rich_qa

paulwpxp I just literally finished reinstalling WordPress manually thru the Control Panel File Manager & Nothing… The Visual & Text Editor Tabs are still not showing for this Website.

Let me mention this which may give you some clues or ideas.

    – This problem of “No Visual & Text Editor Tabs” only seems to happen when using this
    Laptop & particular Website combination.

    – If I use this very same Laptop on any other website I have no problem, the Visual &
    Text editor works fine.

I’m totally baffled as to why the laptop & this particular Website combination doesn’t work together. Yet the laptop visual & text editor works fine on other sites which seems to rule out something being wrong with the laptop.

And as far as this particular Website well it works fine also as long as I use another device (laptop-PC-Tablet etc.) then I have no problem with the editor.

The same identical thing happened to me on a completely Different laptop & Different website last year that’s why this is eating away at me I’m thinking it has to be a bug during the download process that won’t allow the editor and site to properly communicate.

The only similarities seem to be that whatever device I downloaded the WordPress on initially it somehow causes a conflict with that particular device & that particular Website.

Thanks again if you can think of anything further I listening.

Thanks paulwpxp, I contacted Hostgator (my hosting provider) and was told because I’m on a shared server they could not enable apc segment in php.ini. I don’t know how true that is because the guy that told me that didn’t seem sure and said he got that info from his supervisor. So I ask you should they be able to do this on a shared server? Thanks again in advance and thanks for the quick response.

Hey Waynard, You are describing the exact problem I’ve had for over a year now and sorry to say I don’t have a solution yet… The Visual & Text Editor TABS do not show up. This has happened twice on two different laptops THAT I USED TO DOWNLOAD WORDPRESS ON. In each case the very laptops used to do this The Visual & Text Editor TABS where not visible They only became visible if I USED ANOTHER DEVICE Laptop, P.C., Tablet, or Phone for that site so it seems to have something to do with whatever device you use to download WordPress on it creates a bug for that device with the editor… However I, after all, this time think I may have found a Post where the guy has our same problem and said he found a solution but for me, some things tech language he uses has me confused still a little. I was about to post a Question in regards to this before I stumbled across your post. If it works for you maybe you can help me understand it by breaking it down into simple language minus all the tech terminology good luck here’s the link please keep me posted… P.S. Scroll down towards the bottom of the page ignore the top…

Thanks for your efforts… Like I said I’ve seen this happen on 2 different laptops after installing WordPress for a new Domain & Like you I’ve run out of ideas but will keep looking thanks again.

I did a complete fresh install of WordPress then installed the Health Check 7.0 as you suggested by itself no other plugins and 3 things came up

    1) 5.6.30 – For performance and security reasons, we strongly recommend running PHP version 7.0 or higher.
I had my Web Hosting Company upgrade the PHP as suggested to 7.0

    2) 5.5.51-38.2
    – For performance and security reasons, we strongly recommend running MySQL version 5.6 or higher.
My Web Hosting Company (Hostgator) said this would have to wait because I’m not on a dedicated sever & eventually it will be done.

    3) You are not using HTTPS to access this website.
I am not ready to install the SSL will eventually but I’m certain this is not the reason for the Visual Editor not appearing

Still no Solution… I can go to my other Websites with this laptop & the Visual Editor is there but this domain/URL/Website that I downloaded WordPress for no Visual Editor I have no other ideas do you? Does anyone?

Let me make a Big Correction the Text editor is Visible the thing that is not showing is the Visual editor. Also I remind you that when I go to my other website using this very laptop both the visual & text editor appear and is fully working. Now I purchased a new
domain recently & therefore needed to download WordPress for it (with the same laptop) and for this domain/URL the visual editor does not show just the text editor part. What possibly could be the reason it shows for one Domain/URL using this laptop and not the other using the same laptop? the Theme I am using is Hestia but about 2 yrs ago the Identical thing happened to me using the Generate Press theme.

OK well I took all your suggestions & still no luck
(Enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and look for an error in wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there).
Also installed 2 different Health Check plugins and neither one revealed anything related to the Visual & Text editor.

What I did notice after accessing the Google Chrome Dev Tools (f12 inspect feature) is this message…

    <div id=”wp-content-editor-tools” class=”wp-editor-tools hide-if-no-js”>

I looked this up of course and found info saying SOLVED on 2 different sites:

    https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/126110/visual-editor-missing-server-side-problem-how-would-you-debug-it

    https://tutel.me/c/wordpress/questions/126110/visual+editor+missing+serverside+problem+how+would+you+debug+it

but I cant make sense of it… I need this explained
    in simple to understand language

wp editor tools hide if no js??? could this be the reason the Visual & Text editor is not showing???

I am in no way a Developer just a guy trying to create a website & learning as I go along
with the help of others like yourself please let me know if this is the solution and how to implement it
thanks in advance for your patience & help.
