Go to settings, reading, ‘front page displays‘ select ‘ a static page ‘ then from the drop down option on ‘ front page ‘ select your homepage.
That should do the trick.

Go to Settings > Permalinks.. make sure you have selected post name.
The only reason I think this can be happening is because you already have a page named ‘about us’. I know you may already have but please double check you have no pages or posts with the permalink following ‘about-us’.
