This is embarrassing – I’ve resolved the issue simply by (1) logging out of the backend, (2) navigating to the front-end, (3) clearing my browser cache, and then logging in again.

Thanks for the really prompt reply. My front-end is example.com and my backend is example.com/wp-admin. I was under the impression this would be the typical setup?
