I personally don’t think it is a TablePress issue since I don’t have that installed on my website and I can’t edit anything at all in Elementor. And…I just installed Elementor v 1.6.2 to no avail.

I agree. Updated to 1.6.1 and still no editing capability. It does look like they may be trying to fix the issue.
Customizer works fine for me as well. Used to be the Elementor screen was grey while loading, but now it’s white and like others, I am only seeing the “E” animating on the white background.

That was the culprit!
I have the iThemes Security plugin installed on my site and when I looked at the wp-congig.php file, this is what I saw://The entry below were created by iThemes Security to disable the file editor
define( ‘DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT’, true );So, I changed the word “true” to “false” and viola, it worked. I am looking for just where in the plugin I allowed that to happen, but the issue is fixed.
Thanks also to Calvin, CrouchingBruin and timoses for all you guidance. Guess now we all know how and why this happened.

In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] Edit css stylesheet in child themeStill waiting after 8 hours from my web host. Anyone know of a great host with great support? This MPC Network thing gets worse every time I need help and their answers are always so vague. Also, if I switch hosts, is there a way to not have to pay the original web hosting company every year to renew the domain name?

In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] Edit css stylesheet in child themeI am awaiting a reply (4 hours so far) from the hosting company before I do anything too drastic. I have FileZilla, but looks like I need to do a bit of learning. Thanks again. Will keep you both posted!

In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] Edit css stylesheet in child themeHello Calvin,
Yes, I have the latest theme version. I have cleared browser cookies & cache and even tried a different browser.
Can you tell me where to check on the permissions, what the correct permissions should be and how to change them? CrouchingBruin gave me a link to go to the page directly, but it tells me “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page”. Which to me seems strange since I am the Admin for the site and can do anything else. Nonetheless, where & how do I check or change the permissions if needed.
Would it be beneficial to reinstall WordPress, or the theme itself? Can either or both be done without losing my site?

In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] Edit css stylesheet in child themeCrouchingBruin – I activated the plain-vanilla TwentyEleven theme and still no Editor, either under “Appearance” or “Tools” as mentioned above. AND, I just deactivated every plugin with both the Plain-vanilla and child theme and still no “Editor”. Does this suggest I need to reinstall WordPress and if so, do I lose my website?

In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] Edit css stylesheet in child themeThat tells me that I do not have sufficient permissions to access this page. Does that mean I need to go into the panel and change the permissions? If so, to what?

In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] Edit css stylesheet in child themetimes – Maybe a bit more experience time wise, but believe me, it’s a never ending learning experience and mostly, for me, a challenge to figure out. I will take your advise & try the plugin routine. I haven’t added any new ones in a long time, only performed the updates, But maybe one of the updates changed things a bit. Have a great evening and thanks for your input.

In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] Edit css stylesheet in child themeYes sir, Child theme is activated and has been for a couple of years. That’s why I am so puzzled as to why I can’t find the Editor. I am on a Mac computer, but don’t think that would be an issue. Using the Safari browser. I will try another browser. I used Firefox, but that is exactly the same.

In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] Edit css stylesheet in child themeWhen I click on “Tools” the only options I have are: Import – Export – Forums & Websimon Tables which I believe is a plugin I have installed.
Any other suggestions? I am puzzled!
