Actually…this statement is not true. People have tried to contact you about fixing these, but you don’t respond.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-SpamFree Anti-Spam] this plug-in blocks upgrades@insprev13: There’s no way the plugin blocks upgrades of those plugins…we use all of those plugins on our test blogs, and they are fine. If you’re running into an issue, please submit a support request (info provided in plugin documentation) and we can help you diagnose.
One thing to note – and I don’t know if this is still an issue in 2.8.4, but in 2.8 a memory bug was introduced into WP so some people had to increase their server or WP memory to at least 64MB for things to work smoothly. You can do this in your wp-config.php file. Upon upgrade, random plugins would cause the WP dashboard to break. Once the mem was upped, this went away. If that’s your issue, you may want to try this fix.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-SpamFree Anti-Spam] BrokenHey jonhuck and speerga,
Sorry to hear you’ve been having trouble with the plugin. It’s been tested to work just fine in v 2.8.4, so it’s likely there is something else going on there, and likely something that can easily be fixed. If you haven’t gotten a chance to yet, you may want to check out the Troubleshooting Guide and FAQs. If that doesn’t solve the issue, please submit a support request so we can look into it for you.

In reply to: Can’t reply to commentsHi uzet1 and Lucker,
I have an update for you.
I think we identified the problem – there appears to be a glitch that affects some people’s WordPress installation where it is not correctly identifying that they are logged in as an admin. I’m honestly not sure why it’s doing that because for many it works fine, but we have a fix that should work anyway.
We updated the method used to test a user’s privilege level (and if they are in the WordPress admin) in version 2.1.0.7 that should fix this.
If anyone has any further problems with this particular issue on version 2.1.0.7 or higher, let us know by submitting a support request and we’ll look into it right away.

In reply to: WP-SpamFree protection for email ?Hey roo222 – WP-SpamFree has a Contact form feature as well as protecting the comments from spam. You just have to create a new page (“Contact Us” or “Contact” for example) insert a short piece of code into it as described in the plugin instructions. Then people who visit your site can email you through the form without your email address being exposed. You also don’t have to know any code. You can set the email address it goes to in the options for the plugin in your WordPress admin.
Using a form is really the only safe way to have an email on a website. (Where the email is hidden safely in the PHP script that processes the form.) Spammers will scrape sites to grab email addresses even if they are encoded.

In reply to: Can’t reply to commentsHi Lucker. We have Tech Support Available directly for anyone who uses the plugin. We prefer you go to the WP-SpamFree homepage for tech support because we have put together a lot of documentation and resources to help you, including full documentation, a TroubleShooting Guide, FAQ’s and a Support Request page. The link is on the WP-SpamFree options page of your WordPress admin. Also, if you follow the link above you can submit a support request (which we will answer quickly) so we can help you diagnose the issue. Also, if there is an issue with the plugin (that perhaps only shows up for a small % of users) it will help us diagnose and fix it.
Regarding the question about the log file, I think FAQ #5 will answer that. Keep in mind “Blocked Comment Logging Mode” must be on for the “Log All Comments” to be enabled.
Hey neokai,
Thanks for the feedback. I’d recommend turning on “Blocked Comment Logging Mode” and ask that user to try commenting again. Then send us a support request (with the log info) through the WP-SpamFree support page. We’ll take a look at the info and figure it out for you. If there is an issue with the plugin, we’ll release a fix as soon as possible.

In reply to: Can’t reply to commentsHi Uzet,
That error message does match a WP-SpamFree error message, but the plugin doesn’t run for administrators, editors, and authors when logged in, so you *shouldn’t* be getting that error message. Normally a user can reply just fine through the admin. There may be a glitch with the plugin and your specific setup – we can try to figure it out. If you wouldn’t mind, please submit a support request – we’ll try to help you figure it out. If there truly is an issue with the plugin, we’ll fix it as soon as possible.
If anyone else is having this specific issue, please let us know through the WP-SpamFree Support Page so we can fix it.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-SpamFree Anti-Spam] Blocked Comments not shownHey deskon. Some people want to manually check comments, and some people just want to be able to blog without having to look at all the junk spam that comes in.
WP-SpamFree is for designed people who just want to blog without spam – those who don’t want to worry about spam queues and the like. There are other good plugins for people who want to be able to manually check spam comments before deleting them. It’s just a matter of personal taste on that one.
That’s actually not accurate that it’s not possible to check the blocked comments. In the options for the plugin, you can turn on “Blocked Comment Logging Mode” which gives you the ability to log any comments that were blocked by the plugin.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-SpamFree Anti-Spam] [Plugin: WP-SpamFree] Translate problemHey Maestro, what program are you using to edit it? I’d recommend doing it offline and keeping a backup of your original file.
Officially we don’t provide support for hacking the plugin, but being that we don’t yet have a version in your language, I’ll do my best to help out here.
You should just be able to change the word you want, and save your file, then upload it.
If you have a backup you can also edit it through the WordPress admin, although that is riskier.
Also, you can get help from us directly (and quickly) by contacting us via the WP-SpamFree Support page.
FYI, we are working to have internationalization options available for the plugin in a couple months.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-SpamFree Anti-Spam] Spam Free proxy errorsHey Richard,
You can go ahead and just turn on the option to not block proxies. It’s likely not making a mistake in detecting a proxy. It’s just that in some rare cases, ISP’s setup a user to run through a proxy without them even doing anything actively. It’s not the best practice IMO for them to do that. But it does happen on occasion so you have the option to allow proxy users.
