In reply to: Media Library Error Message for Uploads after MAMP MigrationThat makes sense. The new theme I’m working with “X” is pretty plugin intense, especially their new version they just launched.

In reply to: Media Library Error Message for Uploads after MAMP MigrationObviously, and I may very well end up switching webhosts soon. But for now, I’m asking if there are best practices to minimize the amount of PHP memory that I’m using on my end.

In reply to: Media Library Error Message for Uploads after MAMP MigrationOther than migrating to a different web host. Are there things I can do to avoid hitting the PHP memory limit?

In reply to: Media Library Error Message for Uploads after MAMP MigrationOk, so 1and1 told me that the old hosting package I was on had a PHP memory limit of 30mb but they upped it to 80mb for the same price. The guy on the phone said changes to hosting packages typically take 3-5 days to take effect, so I suppose I’ll have to wait and see if this fixes my issue.
Does that sound like it’s the right thing? I don’t fully understand what a PHP memory limit does. The way he explained it over the phone, it’s a cumulative thing and eventually I’ll hit the limit again, but is there a way to delete things and and free up memory?
At this point, I’m limited to Media Library uploads that are under 100kb. We’ll see if upgrading my hosting package/php memory actually fixed the issue.

In reply to: Media Library Error Message for Uploads after MAMP MigrationOk…line added successfully but the upload error in the media library persists.

In reply to: Media Library Error Message for Uploads after MAMP MigrationOk…I’m beginning to think that your hunch about my webhost being the problem might be accurate. I have a different wordpress site setup at http://notenoughwords.com, but that site shares the same webspace as the http://wespickering.com, just under a different directory. The same problem now exists over there as well, even though they’re not sharing any databases.
So, if it is indeed something on the webhost side, where should I look or what should I ask for in customer service? I can upload large files via FTP all day long, and even the Media Library in WordPress will successfully upload the images; it just does it with an error, a broken thumbnail, and without the ability to insert it directly into a post.

In reply to: Media Library Error Message for Uploads after MAMP MigrationThat generated a new error and rendered the entire site inoperable.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ”); ‘ (T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING) in wp-config.php on line 15
I tried placing it a few different places in the config file but got the same error message with a different line number each time. Is there someplace specific I should add the line?

In reply to: Media Library Error Message for Uploads after MAMP Migration1and1. I’ve used them for years without issues, and this is a new problem. That certainly doesn’t mean something couldn’t have changed on their end, but I haven’t changed anything on the webhost side during this process.

In reply to: Media Library Error Message for Uploads after MAMP MigrationNope. The entire site remained active, only the individual page layouts changed within the page editor. All URLS are the same as they were before the redesign. The whole site is 100% functional except for the Media Library, which is still partially functional but simply won’t take (most) new uploads as described above.

In reply to: Media Library Error Message for Uploads after MAMP MigrationI’m not sure if I understand how either of those things are relevant to the Media Library problem I’m having. As I tried to explain above, I didn’t actually migrate an entire site, I just copied and pasted the page designs and uploaded new images via FTP. Somewhere in that simple process, the Media Library broke.
