OK, I didn’t have the mu-plugins folder, but even before completing all the steps in https://developer.ww.wp.xz.cn/advanced-administration/upgrade/upgrading/#upgrading-wordpress-extended-instructions (I only reached step 8 or 9) I got my entire WordPress site restored, including my wp-admin dashboard. Yay!

It is impressive how user-friendly the upgrade process is, even for such an upgrade from 3.3.1 to 6.5.2.
