Hi @pulak00,
I appreciate you reaching out and being polite.
Just to be clear: I’m perfectly fine with plugins including paid extra features / enhancements. And you are correct that you do not literally advertise “Video Slider with local video support”.
However, you advertise your free plugin as a “Video Slider”. Support for local videos is – in my opinion – such a basic feature that it is implied in “Video slider”, not a special feature you charge extra for.
There is a line between paid extra features – which I have no problems with – and free versions without basic features, mainly intended to push upsells. That’s the point where – in my personal opinion – it becomes an abuse of the free wp.org repository and that’s what I criticise in my review.
I agree that many other developers do this too, and it’s extremely annoying. Thanks for updating the description and being a good example. I will update my review.
Hi, I haven’t checked if the video slider is the only pro feature advertised in title / short description. Provided it is: Marking it with (Pro) would be enough for me to update my review.
Hi Steve,
thanks for replying, I do appreciate you being responsive.
What would make me happy is if there was “Pro Features:” or at least “Pro:” in front of the Pro features. That’s 4 out of 160 characters, plus a space maybe.
I don’t want to waste my time reading long descriptions just to find out if a “Video slider”-Plugin includes a Video slider. (that isn’t a pro feature)
I’m fine with plugins including paid extra features / enhancements. But regarding free plugins on the wp.org repository, I expect the core functionality advertised in the title to be free. If it isn’t, I consider it misleading. And it’s wasting not just my time, but also yours dealing with reviews.

That’s misleading to me. You claim a misleading plugin title + short description isn’t misleading if you put an explaination in the long description, I guess we have to agree to disagree about this.
And since I have tried both plugins and had the same bad experience, I have reviewed both. That’s not “spamming” that’s how reviews work.
