Well, thanks again. I will close this topic for now.
Ok, I will check with 1 or 2 theme authors to see if they can instruct me on ‘getting their theme (preview) to work. That is a starting point.
But still.. I don’t understand why I can’t preview new themes correctly in the first place. Isn’t the meaning of a theme preview that you get a (direct) good look and feel about a theme, in order to make the decision to start working with that theme?
Mmm… I will contact a theme author – but wished there was a better solution for this. Now I have to contact every author of every theme I like, when I want a good responsive theme preview.
Thanks for your support anyway – you are the first help I experienced here online 🙂
I might not fully understand you here.
When ww.wp.xz.cn uses the same dummy data then .. Everybody should have the same problem as me, if the problem lies within that data, right? But, as far as I can see I am the only one posting about this.
So … would your advice to me be … (?)
Visit every theme author with a support request ?I don’t get it. This problem shouldn’t exist in the first place, am I right? Because now with every new theme I preview, I see this Twenty Fourteen data / settings. That would mean that I should contact every theme author of any new theme I would like to preview.
Hee Andrew, thanks for your reply.
Yes, the issue persists if I visit the theme via the demo page, through:
http://wp-themes.com/theme-nameI understand what you say, but where could I change these settings? Online that isn’t even possible I guess.
What makes it so strange is that the results of previewing online and offline are the same. That Twenty Fourteen (with boat-picture) theme seems to crawl in every time.
I really need some pointers, so my WordPress adventure doesn’t stop here.
I’ve included an example of what I see when I change to a new theme. When you see that picture (of what happens in my browser), you’ll get a better understanding of my problem.
Here is what I see:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fzim8ncj9d5njcb/themepreviewfails.jpg?dl=0On the left is my started preview visible, but on the right I see some little parts of the new theme and many parts of another theme, which keeps coming back in all my ‘add new and preview themes’.
It isn’t because of MAMP and my local server, because when I search online (MAMP server off – no local work going on) through the site of ww.wp.xz.cn I still have the same problem in every browser I use.
Does anybody have an idea of what is going on here?
