Hey @owaisdev – thanks for reaching out about this.
So first off, can you walk through what information you’ve updated in Charitable’s PayPal settings: have you confirmed the email address, live API username, live API password etc.?
Sometimes, but not always, some run into an issue mentioned by our setup guide:
https://www.wpcharitable.com/documentation/setting-up-paypal/
“To avoid problems with having donations remain stuck as pending, ensure that this account is fully set up and approved by PayPal, and also that it is in the same currency as you have set in your Charitable settings.”
The next step would be to carefully read through our troubleshooting document for PayPal:
https://www.wpcharitable.com/documentation/paypal-ipn-troubleshooting/
After exploring that document if you are experiencing issues then can you confirm where you are seeing the error message – feel free to provide a screenshot and/or a URL. If you are seeing this message during or after submitting a donation form on your website, can you provide the URL for that for our team to try to reproduce that and seeing that for ourselves?
The above steps are best and fastest way to troubleshoot – let us know if you have questions!
Thanks @earthnutvt – we just did two tests but didn’t get the error yet. Is this happening for every donation? And we are noticing you are using recurring donations – is this happening just for the “one time” tab (which is what appeared when we followed your link) or the “monthly donation” tab, or both?
Finally, since you have a premium addon I assume then you are a license holder – for faster service and to share temp admin access we highly suggest you reach out through the support on our website (you can reference this support url so you don’t have to retype anything). Meantime our team will take a closer look.
@earthnutvt thanks for reaching out about this.
Can you share the following so our team can take a closer look:
- Would you mind sharing the public url(s) and repeat the steps with the urls so we can reproduce exactly the issue?
- The version number of Charitable and any Charitable addon(s) that are currently active on the site.
The above informatoin will help speed up any potential troubleshooting. Thank you!
I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But janet if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.
Thanks!
Thanks for reaching out. We have recently discovered that past versions of the plugin might have incorrectly not cleared this message from the database for a few users. Although harmless, it’s something that shouldn’t be there and should be removed. The latest version of Charitable (1.7.0.7+) is seeking to resolve this across the variety of users by adding a “clear cache” option to the “advanced tab”.
Can you try the following?
Step 1: Update to 1.7.0.7.T here are several different ways you can update your Charitable plugin freely. The most common way is via using the WordPress Admin Plugin Upload.
1. Click the “download” button here to download a zip file of the latest version: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/charitable/
2. In your admin go to Plugins » Add New page. After that, click on the ‘Upload Plugin’ button on top of the page to upload the zip. It will ask you to overwrite the previous version (check the version numbers but you should be overwriting 1.7.0.7 with 1.7.0.x). Once it’s done that your plugin should be updated. You can refer to the other alt ways to upload a plugin (such as via FTP) here: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/step-by-step-guide-to-install-a-wordpress-plugin-for-beginners/
Step 2: Go into settings to confirm you see a checkbox for clearing cache. Check the box and click “save settings”.
Step 3: You should get a page reload and a message about cache being cleared. Visit another page in Charitable (settings, donations) and you should no longer see the upgrade message.
If you continue to see the notification, clear your browser cache. Otherwise please quote us the exact notification message to confirm it’s the same one we have observed.
Thank you!
@brianhealthygreen No problem. You might encounter the issue again if you attempt to upgrade to a version after 1.7.0.5 since the bug is present in 1.7.0.5. If you do, repeat the same procedure as above (and after that it should be fine).
Again, i’m happy to answer any questions – have a good day!
Thanks for reaching out. You are correct – the free version doesn’t need a license and this is a bug we will be pushing a release soon for.

We apologize for the confusion and we will have this updated soon. If you have ANY questions we are here to answer – and thank you for being a user of Charitable!
Thanks fo reaching out. That fatal so far doesn’t seem to be connected to Charitable but instead related to your WordPress install (based on the directory information, but that’s a guess).
You might find better support for non-Charitable general occasions like this in the general WordPress support forms…

…oR contact your hosting company to look into it. If you do get additional information and we can help you, feel free to reach back out to us.
@earthnutvt Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing. I just checked and for some reason your support did go into our spam folder and we’ll be responding shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience on that and thank you for your patience.
Hi @kingcooper,
Thanks for reaching out!
As the peer to peer fundraising is an addon that is associated with a paid version of WPCharitable, could you please drop us a line through our contact page when you get the chance?
You’re welcome to just include a link to this post, if you’d prefer to do that.
I apologize that we’re not able to respond to paid version questions here in the ww.wp.xz.cn support forums for the free version, but I really appreciate your help!
Thanks 🙂

hello @toolbox978
There should be SOME spacing above and below the campaign description, at least in most themes. If there isn’t you might want to check the CSS of your theme.
The class of the DIV containing the regular campaign description is “campaign-description”. So in most cases this CSS should work:
.campaign-description { padding-top: 20px; padding-bottom: 20px; font-size: 14px; // change to adjust the size of the font }This CSS might depend on your theme – if that doesn’t work please provide a URL to a page with a campaign description and we can see if we can revise that CSS. Let me know if you have any further questions!
Thanks!
