I’m pretty sure now that private groups is not the culprit 😉
I disabled your plugin and the issue with wrong links did not go away.
So I’ve opened a thread at https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/sort-replies-with-newest-first-while-using-pagination/
The “sort topics replies” plugin seems very abandoned, but I’ve also asked there;

Hm. I’ve fiddled around with the settings a bit more, and I’m getting the impression that WP/bbPress does not deal well with pagination and a descending order of replies. Even the link directly at a reply will include the wrong page. If this comes directly from WP or bbPress, then it might not be possible to change those links.
