Hi Steve,
Done.
thanks.
Hi Steve,
I use a Theme called AVADA on some of my sites … and within the ‘theme options’ there’s a custom fonts section (under typography) … in there gives the option to upload 5 of your favorite web fonts, woff2, woff, eot, ttf, svg (as opposed to using Googles own, which is an extra option) …
When you click on the upload icon (for each web font type) it takes to the Media Library where you can upload, or click & drag, the web fonts into the library, as you would with images, etc … once uploaded, you select which font you want from the Media Library … it then fills the ‘custom font’ section with your selected web font … job done …
To be honest you don’t really need a theme to do this, as it still flags up the error on non (3rd party) themed WP installs … so the problem is actually dragging web fonts in to the Media Library … and the error given is:
Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.
But this is what I have done loads of times for the past websites (using the same theme) with no problems whatsoever … this is what’s frustrating me …
I have tried different browsers as well as my laptop … still the same …
thanks.
Is it possible there could be something on my PC that is preventing the upload of the web fonts and other files? … I have checked the PC for viruses & Malware, etc. and all is clean … I have checked with my host provider and there’s no caching enabled …
It definitely looks like something global, that is affecting all my websites … old and new …
thanks.
Hi Steve,
Thanks for your quick reply …
I have installed the plugin: Disable Real MIME Check (By Sergey Biryukov)
The good news is, that seems to have fixed the upload issue of the favicons … but after reading through the Trac Ticket thread: https://core.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/ticket/39550, I couldn’t find anything that suggest web fonts having an upload issue … so I am still stuck on this bit …
Also, bearing in mind that the issue (fix) seems to be mainly for 4.7.1? …
I’m more concerned that my issue relates (more so) with my previous built sites, some having an older version of WP (not updated to 4.7.1) … and especially with a fresh install of WP 4.5.3, my issue is now present in there … so in theory WP 4.5.3 would not need the above plugin? … it has not been needed before and everything has been perfect for those sites …
One thing to note:
I don’t know if this is relevant … but all of my websites have used the same build (backed up/cloned site) for deployment to create the new websites …A typical cloned backup includes the following:
An install of WP 4.5.3, an install of the preferred Theme, install any plugins that will be used … update said plugins … create the backup …Deployment of cloned site:
Then for each new website I create, I restore that cloned backup to a new domain/folder (in 2mins) … change the SALT code for each new website created … I then update WP, the Theme and the plugins to their latest versions … then design the site …I have done this without issue for 10 sites so far … and find it’s a faster way for me to build a site …
thanks.
