that’s great, many thanks. I will try and keep an eye on the Github as well, but as and when there’s a fix or update, would you mind posting here too as i get email alerts for those?
Thanks @rizaprihananto at least it’s not just me then! 🙂 I seem to get the same error (same as your first screenshot) regardless of whether i click it, or drag and drop it from the “browse all” sidebar. Usually when i insert blocks like that i just type “/xxxx” (the start of the name of it) and it pops up to select.
This always used to work before WP 7.0 update.
Hi, are there any other suggestions on things I can try to help resolve this please? I’m still seeing this odd spiking pattern to the post views counter views 🙁
Hi @weiser, I’m still experiencing an odd issue with the post views counter and it doesn’t seem to be related to Javscript optimization in Autoptimize after all. Wondering if you’ve got any advice i can try?
I’ve disabled the JS Autoptimize settings altogether for the last week or so but I am still experiencing the same oddities with the counting as before. I still have “optimize CSS code” and “optimize HTML code” selected in case either of those could be causing an issue though?
What I’m seeing is that rather than a fairly “smooth” trend over time (which is what my Google Analytics and another visits tracker shows), my graph of post views spikes up and down regularly. This is the trend showing from April in the dashboard for PVC:

You can see it seems to spike between 7000/8000 one day, then drops all the way to 2000 a couple of days later.
Below is how it would typically look before the changes, here’s the data below from March – note that it was late March when i installed Autoptimize and made some other changes to the caching on the site, which is when the “spiking” happened from about 24 March onwards:

This is how another analytics tracker shows traffic over the last 90 days, you can see generally more consistent apart from a couple of very busy spikes, typically around 6500 per day:

I am using the JavaScript counter mode in PVC still, which i always have used, and like I say, I’ve disabled Autoptimize JS options now so I don’t think it’s that causing the issue.
The only other thing i changed at the time this started was shifting to a different cache plugin. I am using ‘Super Page Cache’ which is linked to Cloudflare more directly than what i was using before, and I’m wondering if that’s now causing the oddities. It almost looks like from the recent PVC stats that it is maybe counting everything, it’s just not refreshing in uniform intervals, and so one day it counts 2000, then the next maybe 9000, averaging out over time? I’m not entirely sure.
Any thoughts on things I can try please?

Thanks. I am experimenting with this at the moment and will report back. I’d appreciate it if this thread could be left open for a little while I test, in case of further questions. thanks
not your fault Jeffrey at all, just a shame X changed their model here. Some guidance on how to set up a PAYG account and rough pricing could be handy for people I think if you have chance
Yeah i had a look at that, but it seems that to be classified as a Public Utility App you need to be “running automated accounts that serve the public interest….To provide essential public safety information, such as weather alerts, transportation updates, emergency notifications, and alerts regarding public infrastructure (e.g., road closures). Generally reserved for verified government agencies, public transportation entities, or public service organizations.”
So that seems to exclude everyone else from free API access now which is a massive shame.
thanks for the pointer @stevejburge I think this might have been a clash with the ‘Docket Cache’ plugin. I’ve disabled that and it allowed the normal update process for this plugin to work without an error.
Hi @stevejburge thanks for the suggestion. I did a complete deactivation and deletion via WordPress dashboard for the installed v2.40.0, then via FTP checked that there was no trace of any related folder in the plugins directory.
After that I installed the latest plugin as new via the “add plugin” section, but faced the same error. It will let me in to my dashboard, but I get the same error when trying to access the plugins section. I can use “add plugin” to manually overwrite the new version with the older v2.40.0 which I had downloaded, and then everything returns to normal.
I don’t face this problem with any other plugin updates. Are there any known compatibility issues with any plugins I should perhaps check? any other advice appreciated. thanks
I’m still facing issues with the latest updates v2.41.0 and also v2.42.0. If i update to either version from WP dashboard or by uploading the file directly as a “new plugin”, it causes my site to hit an error for “There has been a critical error on this website.”
Using FTP i have to rename the plugin folder for this plugin in wp-content, which allows me back in to WP admin dashboard, but i still get the same error when trying to access the “installed plugins” section. I can use the “add plugin” function and re-upload the v2.40.0 file, which then lets me back in to the plugins section, where it tells me it can see both versions installed, although one is in the wrong folder it says (the one I’ve renamed manually). I can then delete that plugin and it leaves me functioning again on v2.40.0 which is working fine.
Hi @htmgarcia, yes that seems to have fixed the issue. many thanks 🙂

In reply to: [Broken Link Checker] A couple of questions having moved to BLC CloudHi Adam, many thanks for the reply and explanations.
By way of further feedback, i think the ability for the user to add exclusions would be very beneficial, so it would be great if that was added at some point.
Regarding those that have been ignored, that;s useful to keep them available but it would just be nice if there was a way to filter or categorise the list so that i could hide those that were ignored previously, and just focus on anything new/still needing action
many thanks 🙂
any further advice please @wfpeter?
Hi @wfpeter, many thanks for the reply and suggestions.
In the Tools > Diagnostics section under “connectivity”, I noticed that with Cloudflare set as ‘DNS only’ the IP address showing was that of my hosting server. When i switched this to ‘proxied’ mode, the IP address listed there changed, two were in fact were now being shown, both from the known Cloudflare IP list.
I tried adding those two IP addresses in the “How does Wordfence get IPs” section under the “trusted proxies” box, but that didn’t seem to resolve my problem. I believe those are only applicable when using the ‘X-Forwarded-For HTTP header’ mode anyway? I am currently using the “let wordfence decide” mode?
In the All options > ‘How does Wordfence get IPs’ section the detected IP shows as my own personal IP address from my home internet connection. By the way I hadn’t changed anything in that section before, other than experiment between using the “let Wordfence decide” and the “use Cloudflare” options when i was experiencing problems, but neither seemed to make any difference to the scan process.
I added ALL the Cloudflare IP ranges to both the ‘trusted proxy” section, and to the Firewall IP white list, just to be safe, but that didn’t resolve my problem either.
As suggested, here’s the end of the debugging diagnostics from my most recent scan when using the ‘proxied DNS’ Cloudflare mode
