Hide profiles from directory by default – “No”I’ve tried a plain text search (using ‘Search’ rather than ‘More filters’) and get some results, so they’re showing in the directory. When I check the ‘account’ settings for those people their privacy is set to No.
So, this really seems to be something strange going on with ‘the’More filters’ on this site.
Do you have any other ideas?
I’ve asked if I can create a clone of one of the directory pages that has the issue and share a link to that with you, so you can see it at first hand. Would that be helpful?
hi, I have asked my hosting company about it this morning, backups. Yes we did find unkown users last friday. We went through all the information you have about this and did not find any users with admin capabilities or any compromised files at all. We removed those users and I did the scanner and that came out as ok as well. So it is really weird that this still happened.
yes we have the newest version of the plugin. We would like to know how this could have happened. So far we have not been able to find the data in the backups either. I backup every day and then keep two so there is a large chance the backups we have are corrupted as well.
I have just seen that all the profile photos are gone as well. It has been five hours since I submitted this. The customer is very frantic as this is a critical element of their website and people are starting to notice.

Thank you. I have reactivated the captcha now. We had it on before but we ran into some problems with it months ago [can’t remember what it was exactly] and turned it off. I will also read the security article and implement that next week. Thank you for all the responses.
I have read the documents and went through the steps. I found no plugins, themes or admins. But what worries me is that it is still happening our latest attempt was July 18th. I can’t really find in the documents what to do to stop it. Only what to do when it happens.
Oops I copied the wrong info we have Version 2.6.8 but I will read the guide and see if that solves it.

Hi, I have added the plugin to add profiles to the sitemap on friday but they are still showing up as not indexed on google search console. Are there more steps that we have to do to get them indexed there or does it take more time? I have resubmitted the sitemap as well.

Not yet. We plan to try this next week. But will this also take care of the problem of member profile pages not being indexed by google? As this is a major concern.

I just checked that article and all my others settings are correct. but every time I try to change the user role settings and I save it goes back to default.
