I am receiving this error since the latest update to this plugin, I rebuilt my .htaccess file, granted CHOWN etc and have decided to just disable this plugin for now to remove the warning message.
I am also curious as to why Captcha has been blocked for new installations? Is this a result of the backdoor drama that happened 2 weeks ago?

if what Brian said is the contributing factor, you can designate pages to be excluded from minify in the W3 Total Cache settings.
Add the page into the exceptions list for all the minify areas and see if that helps.
