    Here is another one.

On January 2, 2018 a subscriber who’s order was placed via ‘Woocommerce Subscriptions’ recurring payment was due. This person’s transaction status is ‘pending’ in PayPal likely due to them paying with a check like they did with their initial payment.

As a result, the status of every other profile created under Woocommerce was automatically changed to ‘Paused’.

Below is the message that Woocommerce posted on every user’s profile under ‘Recent Activity’.

‘Membership paused because subscription was put on-hold. Membership status changed from Active to Paused’

Here is additional information to support my theory.

My last 2 new subscription orders were placed on Jan 3, 2018.

After these orders were placed the status of every user profile was changed to ‘Cancelled’. There is a ‘Recent Activity’ log where Woocommerce posts changes to user profiles.

    Here is what they posted.

‘Membership cancelled because subscription was deleted. Membership status changed from Active to Cancelled.’

I reported this same message to Woocommerce support a month ago. This is an erroneous message as no subscription was deleted.

I’m sure that Woocommerce support could have drawn this same conclusion, but their default is to be dismissive.

An update on problems with Woocommerce Memberships and Woocommerce Subscriptions.

A couple of days ago, once again every profile created under Woocommerce status was changed to ‘Active’.

Today, a members payment was ‘suspended’ in PayPal because they canceled their card due to fraudulent activity. Because every order placed under Woocommerce Subscriptions and Members is intertwined (mentioned above and to support) every profile under Woocommerce status was changed to ‘Paused’.

Since Woocommerce staff chooses to scapegoat other products instead of resolve issues with their own tools here’s what I suspect is the problem:

    1) I have Woocommerce Subscriptions (monthly payments) and Woocommerce Memberships (one-time payments) on my website

    2) There seems to be a problem with the way that Woocommerce handles the last 3 subscription orders:

2a) Under the ‘Orders’ column of Woocommerce Subscriptions is ‘1’ for every subscription except for the last 3 with PayPal activity.

2b) The person who started a new subscription 3 orders ago has ’28’ in their ‘Orders’ column, but these are not their orders. When I click on ’28’ I see other customers orders. Both subscriptions and memberships placed under Woocommerce Subscriptions and Woocommerce Memberships. NO other orders placed via any other tool appear in this list.

2c) The person who started a new subscription 2 orders ago has ’29’ in their ‘Orders’ column, but these are not their orders. Both subscriptions and memberships placed under Woocommerce Subscriptions and Woocommerce Memberships. These are orders for other customers.

2d) The person who’s recurring payment failed in PayPal with a ‘suspended’ status has ’30’ in their ‘Orders’ column, but these are not their orders. These are orders for other customers. This person has the most recent PayPal activity.

    3) My theory is that because orders placed under Woocommmerce are intertwined between customers, recall that I’ve reported this and the fact that anyone with a user id on my website can see every order placed under Woocommerce on ‘Woocommerce – My Account – Orders’, when someone’s Woocommerce SUBSCRIPTON status changes in PayPal (i.e. a new customer), PayPal sends a confirmation back to Woocommerce saying, ‘hey, this person paid and their subscription is now active’. However, due to the mess of orders being overlapped Woocommerce not only changes the status of the new customer to ‘Active’ they change the status of every other profile created under Woocommerce to ‘Active’ The same happens when someone’s profile expires, cancels, or payment fails, etc.

Logged into the admin area this morning to see if there were any new issues with member statuses and discovered that every single member under ‘Woocommerce – > Memberships’ status had been changed to ‘Paused’. Again, if anyone legitimately changed their membership status overnight I wouldn’t know it, because of the phantom bulk membership status changes.

    Correction to the above:

All profiles under ‘Woocommerce – > Memberships’ have periodically changed from ‘Active’ to ‘Cancelled’. This includes the new orders that came in via Woocommerce and the legacy profiles that I manually granted access to the Woocommerce Membership plans and Subscriptions, so that they could continue accessing member content that is now being secured by Woocommerce.

On Dec 31, 2017 under ‘Woocommerce – > Memberships’ all ‘Cancelled’ and ‘Expired’ members changed to ‘Active’. These were legacy profiles that I manually granted access to Woocommerce Membership plans and Subscriptions, so that they could continue accessing member content that is now being secured by Woocommerce.

It’s now been about a month since I implemented Woocommerce Memberships and Subscriptions. The first monthly recurring payments for orders placed under Woocommerce should start coming in this week.

I previously reported that all members who’s orders were placed under Woocommerce status periodically changes from ‘Active’ to ‘Cancelled’. This has not happened over the past couple of weeks. There is now a new problem. On Dec 31, 2017, the ‘Status’ for ‘Cancelled’ and ‘Expired’ members who’s order was placed via Woocommerce Subscriptions or Woocommerce Memberships status automatically changed to ‘Active’. Their expiration dates were maintained, but their status was changed from either ‘Expired’ or ‘Cancelled’ to ‘Active’ leaving not a single member profile created under Woocommerce with a ‘Cancelled’ or ‘Expired’ status.

This is a significant problem for a number of reasons.

    1) Members were granted access to content for which they were no longer paying and I had to waste time manually changing the status of their profiles back to ‘Expired’ or ‘Cancelled’. Fortunately, I take a lot of screenshots of Woocommerce pages in anticipation of problems, so I knew which profiles to update.

    2) If anyone cancelled their membership or subscription created under Woocommerce in between Dec 31 and Jan 1 I have no way of knowing it. The reason being is that my previous membership tool allowed PayPal to maintain the subscription/membership status, so when someone’s subscription or membership was cancelled or expired I received a notification on my mobile device from PayPal and within my PayPal activity. Now when someone cancels I have no way of knowing it unless I go to the ‘Cancelled’ list under Woocommerce members. I need to know when members ‘Cancel’, because I need to remove them from other lists that I use outside of my website. The Woocommerce member ‘status’ list is unreliable, because it periodically changes the status of members and there is not an easy way to reconcile who has a legitimate active profile under Woocommerce on my website and who doesn’t because someone’s PayPal email address could be different from their email address on my website.

This is a difficult hole to dig out of because Woocommerce maintains the status of members’ subscriptions and membership plans on my website. Therefore, if I just get rid of Woocommerce Memberships and Subscriptions then all of my members’ monthly memberships will cancel.

It’s now been about a month since I purchased and implemented Woocommerce ‘Memberships’ and ‘Subscriptions’ it will be interesting to see if the ‘Subscriptions’ plugin properly handles upcoming monthly membership payments.

These are not the type of issues or concerns that business owners should be dealing with from a tool that is essentially managing revenue.

There is one user id with a role of ‘admin’ on my website. All other users either have the role of ‘subscriber’ or ‘customer’.

When I tested the access for the other membership levels/plans, members were able to access only the content for which they paid. The only area where I am seeing problems is with Woocommerce specific pages (i.e. Woocommerce orders).

No response yet. I wonder if there is a way to pull this theme update since it is making websites unusable?

A child theme update was released today for ‘Bron’, but I don’t trust using it.

I am going to switch to another theme for now just so that my website is functioning again.

    Hi Tim,

There are no errors in the java console.

I checked my server I.P. address and it is not on the list of blocked I.P. addresses. There are only a few I.P.s on the list all of which were blocked months ago.

    Thank you.

    (@ym123)

On the blocked I.P. addresses tab are just five I.P. addresses that I manually blocked months ago after they were locked out due to exceeding the login attempts (with an invalid user id). None of the I.P. addresses that I blocked a couple of days ago are listed on the ‘I.P.s that are blocked from accessing this site’ tab. My I.P. address is not listed on that tab and I am not having any issues with accessing my website.

    Thank you.
