Paul – thanks for the kind words. I’ve been a photographer for 35 years, made it my life and livelihood, so I hope I’ve made some decent pictures over the years. The main thing for me is that I find a great peace and continue to learn from it, and what more can anyone ask from what they do. For film I mainly use a SinarF 4×5 with Schneider lenses, but since the demise of type 55 polaroid and the continued advances in digital, I find I shoot film less and less. I recently upgraded my digital to the Nikon D800E from my 5Dmk2 (still have that), and I find the Nikon easily matches anything I can get from my medium format film cameras, a Pentax 67 system and an older Bronica, never bought Hassys. The Nikon files actually come pretty darn close to what I can get with the view camera, can make 30×40 prints from it and even 40×50 if I am careful with technique and use good lenses, so the view camera sits on the shelf a lot of the time anymore.
As far as the site, I’ve actually decided to jump ship from wp to Photoshelter and just use one of their new templates, I believe it is called Elements or Elemental, something like that – but it looks almost exactly like what I wanted right out of the box, and I don’t have the learning curve of wp to deal with. I was already on Photoshelter for digital delivery of files and their lightboxes, and the upgrade to do use their templates ends up costing the same amount I would get back by moving my website from the wp host I have now, so I’m going to do that. Their support system has always been really good and I decided I just don’t have the time to learn coding, I need a simple, easily uploadable website with few glitches, and they seem to have it. Good luck with your photography, and with your website. – BillPaul – I’m not sure, the guy who is helping me who knows code fixed it, and it ended up changing some other things as well, made some of the photos on the home page change size and did some other random changes, so it’s not totally solved – but the only thing I know is he did something in the coding that he said was pretty simple. I’m meeting him tomorrow, so if I discover how he did it I will post, but I don’t know much about how that’s done so I doubt I will be much help. The whole site is sort of cobbled together, different versions etc, so I don’t know that it is anything that could be used as a pattern anyhow since he is using a legacy version of wp for part of the gallery, whatever that is. sorry i can’t be of more help.
