[Bug] Update deletes all contact forms
-
I am currently plugin version Version 5.1.0.3 | By Taylor Lovett
When I update to the newest version. All of my contact forms are deleted. Is there something to fix this?

Hi! Thanks for writing.
I’d like to try and help define the symptom (before moving on to figure out how to address it of course!)
Hmmm, I reproduced the upgrade scenario on my test environment. I installed CCF v.5.1.0.3, made sure I had one form created there, then did the upgrade to CCF v.7.8.3.
Now, when editing a page, I try to add an existing form to the page main text area. I click:
“Add Form” > (“Manage Forms”) > “Existing Forms”.
On that page, my one form that had been created before the upgrade, now isn’t showing — it’s an empty list.
Can you confirm this is what you’re seeing? If not, then can you describe what you’re seeing in some more detail?
(Note: during and after my upgrade scenario, I did see (am seeing) some warning-style messages regarding permalinks settings, which I haven’t yet cleared up. I hesitate to mention it here because I don’t know whether or not it’s related to the symptom that you’re reporting. But I think its worth at least mentioning because it happened at the same time. Will you comment on whether or not you’re seeing any warning-messages regarding permalinks settings?)
I have the same thing. There is no form on my contact page http://www.oiba.co.uk, but this code is in the site origin editor
[ccf_form id=”552″]I tried deleting it and adding a new form but when I click, nothing happens
Hi! Thanks for writing.
Would you mind posting a brand new thread of your own? This is so that it’ll keep the issues separate, in the chance that this symptom isn’t identical to the original poster’s.
As for getting started addressing your issue; a question:
Do you mean that your site is using the “SiteOrigin CSS” WordPress plugin ( https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/so-css/ ), and that that’s where you placed the shortcode?
If so, then try moving the shortcode into the post or page via the Visual Editor.
In other words, shortcodes go in the page or post body, not in its css.
Will you open a new thread, and then post the link to the new thread here?
(And on the new thread, write a note of an update on this issue, for example whether using the Visual Editor did the trick or not?)
Yes I cannot see any of the old forms after the upgrade.
@webmaster1234 aha, at least we’ve defined the symptom a bit more clearly, and confirmed that it’s reproducible.
I’d say the symptom is that after upgrading, in the “Add Form” > (“Manage Forms”) > “Existing Forms” section, one cannot see any of the old forms after the upgrade.
I think it’ll take a bit more effort now to start to dig into what’s causing this and how to fix it, and how to prevent it from happening in the first place. However I think a good immediate next-step is to find if there’s an official bug fix request channel for this plugin, and write this up as a software bug there to try and get the plugin author(s) help to address this bug.
Update: Ah, after looking in the plugin readme, it looks like a good place to do this would be in the plugin’s github repository, which the author linked to from their readme. I see there are already a few requests there, with some recent activity showing there. Here: https://github.com/tlovett1/custom-contact-forms/issues
So in conclusion, I think a good immediate next-step is to post this as an issue there as a github issue.

@peterjamesb I now see you did start your own thread here –> apologies for not seeing that earlier. Perfect — I think its best to continue troubleshooting your issue there. I’ll link to that thread here so that everyone can see that’s a place for continued discussion of the symptom that you’re reporting: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/form-disappeared/
