filter list for loop posts

hey can anyone help me with a basic template on a loop with filters above it?

I know how to create a loop but im lost with filters, tried a few tutorials and they didnt work out like what im trying to achieve.

What im aiming for is a loop post with images above it that i can set as filers, just like this website has for their posts.. http://segmentnext.com/
