here is the instructions i fllowed:
Is it possible to
use a static front page
?
Yes. You have to create one front page per language. Set translations as usual and then go to the
WordPress ‘Reading settings’ panel. Check ‘Front page displays a static page’ and choose one of the
page you have just created (the language doesn’t matter).
Do the same for posts page.Hello
Could you give a link to your website.
In your panel pages:
– do you see your 2 languages? If not open the “screen options” (on the top right of your screen) and select the missing language.
– do you link your 2 translated homepages? You must have a pen icon instead a plus sign.In your menus do you set in your 2 menus: the language switcher and the homepage?
If you already do that. Pleas provide a copy screen of your panel pages.
here is my website:http://itef.kalemkultur.com/?page_id=2
for the second question, yes i linked them… actually i created the second fronpage by cliking on the plus inside the original one. also i have two menus and lang switchers are on my menu already….
for the first question i am not sure but i do have translation of some pages and they work fine…
how can i a copy screen of my panel pages here?
btw, now my settings are like this:
Reading Settings
A static page (select below)
Front page: Fronpage
but i didt choose anything for Post page because if i choose fronpage-tr (my second fronpage for the second lang) then fronpage disappears alltogether….i can show that version as well?how can i a copy screen of my panel pages here?
This feature doesn’t exist on this forum but you can give a link to your copy screen on your website or another site.
It helps to understand.Your permalinks and your Polylang settings?
Could you check in URL modification: “The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks”.In Url modification “The language is set from content” is checked and i cant check another thing…. so i need to send screen shots of both frontpages?
now it got weirder… i do not have menu and other pages for English as well….
i have them back after reselecting frontpage as a static on settings/reading…
In Url modification “The language is set from content” is checked and i cant check another thing
Before go in Settings > Permalinks unselect “Default” and choose another setting.
On your website I don’t see the language switcher in the menu.
But you said that you have added it in your Tukcey and English menu. In the source code only see the tr flag.
Did you assign your menus in “Manage Location” tab?
Send me a copy screen of:
-panel pages.
-“Manage Locations” tab
-frontend: language switcher. I don’t find how to switch in tr.
With a netbook we don’t see the end of your menu. It’s cut under “post formats”…Maybe your language switcher is under.here are my screen shots:http://yildizhumanities.com/?page_id=1330
yes i have lang switchers on the menu of each lang (they appaer as flags). but now i can only see the frontpage of Turkish and nothing else although i selected the original fronpage as static page…well if i go to settings/reading and then make these choices: seleck static page, choose frontpage as Front Page and choose frontpage-tr as Post Page.
i can see the menu and content area of the two languages icluding the lang switchers. but they the site gets corrupted….as you can see now:http://itef.kalemkultur.com/language/en/frontpage
could you understand where is the problem? how can i fix it? well, it is not something can be understood from the screen shots i can email my wordpress password? if such a communication is permitten please send me your email address on: [email protected]
Could you switch on a default theme like Twenty twelve + only Polylang.
What happens? It works?appearantly not: http://itef.kalemkultur.com/language/tr/program
i do not have lang flags… i can put them on the menu but the menu still belongs to the previous template
So “Frontpage-TR” is your turkish homepage? I didn’t see it in your panel pages. “Frontpage-TR” must have is english translation, which name gave you?
Did you set up “Frontpage-TR” in your turkish menu?
