Multisites?

Hello, does the plugin work on a Multisite network?
In that case how are individual subscriptions or registrations managed?
Thanks.

Thanks, first point is crystal clear. Great.
Second point not yet.
I’ve already seen “Your Subscriptions” section, that’s clear – btw, any user has his own access here (even WP standard subscribers)?
But I was not referring to that one but rather to the new entry you create in the users standard WP Profile page. There, there is a related entry created by your plugin (Email Subscriptions) with a checkbox that is currently un-checked under Email Subscription – Subscribe / Unsubscribe – Receive notifications for my own account that is indeed registered. I understand this should be checked as my profile is well listed under the Registered Subscribers list.
any user has his own access here (even WP standard subscribers)?
Yes, that page is accessible to Subscriber level WordPress users and above – all must be able to manage their subscriptions.
But I was not referring to that one but rather to the new entry you create in the users standard WP Profile page.
I don’t think that’s coming from my code. Try disabling Subscribe2 and see if it’s still there, I think it must be from another plugin or maybe a core part of WordPress.
Yes it is indeed!
I double checked right now and this appears at the most bottom of WP users profile, before the “Update Profile” button. When I de-activate your plugin this section simply disappears.Have a look at this screen capture:
http://tinypic.com/r/i4fxvq/8You are quite right – that is part of my code – I’d forgotten about that!!
It works in the same way as clicking the 2 buttons on the Your Subscriptions page – checking subscribes to all categories and unchecking unsubscribes from all categories.
Right.
Now, back to the issue here. As I wrote before the problem is that when a user is subscribed the checkbox here remains un-checked!
I’m myself subscribed and the checbox is not checked and I don’t know what happens if I check it.
It’s working for me on non-multisite. If I have one or more categories subscribed at Subscribe2->Your Subscriptions the checkbox at Users->Your Profile is checked. If I have no categories checked at Subscribe2->Your Subscriptions the checkbox at Users->Your Profile is not checked.
If the box is unchecked on Users->Your Profile and saved all categories are unsubscribed. If the box is check and that page saved then all categories are subscribed.
Hum… Not at my side.
With my own account I had to save again my settings (although they were correct) at Subscribe2->Your Subscriptions and then the checkbox was checked in Users->Your Profile.I thought this might be because my account was registered before I installed the plugin, so I tried with a new account and the same happened. Although I’ve set the plugin options to automatic (auto-subscribe) I had to go again to this news account’s Subscribe2->Your Subscriptions and check again the Notification Settings and Categories. Only then the Users->Your Profile was checked correctly.
Either I do something wrong in Subscribe2 settings, or this is an issue with Multisites?
I just tested on my development site, I created a new user with Subscribe2 settings such that the new users gets automatically subscribed. The email type, new category option and categories were all set correctly in Subscribe2->Settings and when I visited the Users->Your Profile page the subscriptions checkbox was correctly checked.
I’ll see if I can re-create in Multisite but how are you adding users? Through the core registration or are you using another plugin?
I’m adding users with “Join My Multisite” plugin and this is really needed in MU because it’s the only way to manage subscriptions on a per site level.
One more thing: before checking any issues with Join My Multisite, try registrations both at main site and at network sites.
My initial tests were with network sites but when I tried at the main site, the problem was even worse as I couldn’t access the Subscribe2->Your Subscriptions menu. It was visible but got a WP message stating that I didn’t have sufficient rights to access it.
It seems that Subscribe2 and “Join my Multisite” are not compatible. “Join my Multisite” does not provide the core WordPress hooks for me to make them work together.
Hi,
I completely de-activated “Join My Multisite” and are using standard registration. I tested again at main site with a fresh subscription and, as previoulsy noted, when the subscriber tries to access the Subscribe2 menu the only thing he gets is “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this section.”.
Please check at your side also with MU as I think the problem somewhere there.
In fact, when a new MU user registers he not assigned at any site at all and your own menu is absolutely not present.
Network admin has to assign that user in a given site manually (hence the use of “Join My Multisite” btw) and then your menu appears at that site, but is not accessible as described at previous post.
After that, I also added that new user at a network site and he now has 2 dashboards in his account: the main site and a network site.
This time, the Subscribe2 settings at the networks site are correct and the checkbox in his profile is checked.
Conclusion: Your plugin has an issue with MU as it doesn’t work with subscribers at main site level, and another one with the plugin “Join My Multisite” at network sites…
Thanks for the extra information. I will set up a Multisite and check this out as soon as I get time.
Thanks a lot, I think it is worth looking into this further. Not only for myself, but for others needing a Multisite environment.
In the meanwhile I’ve done extensive testing and I confirm my previous conclusion. The main issue is with your plugin and MU at main site’s configuration.
The conflict with “Join My Multisite” is secondary as it occurs only at network sites and can be solved by manually saving the Registered Subscribers settings. If no solution is found for that, maybe a sort of cron job at plugin’s settings could do the job by just bulk saving the Registered Subscribers preferences from time to tiem. Just my two cents.
