I’ve got Google Site Kit on my site with GA-4 linked, and it’s not showing any data on the dashboard (GSK or GA). I’ve tried troubleshooting, to no avail. As far as I can tell the setup is correct.

Hello @murielgravenor thanks for opening a support topic with us.

Sorry to hear that you’re not receiving any Analytics data. There could be a number of reasons why this may be so let’s try and find the root cause for this. Please could you first sharing the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. Do you currently have the Site Kit consent mode setting on? I don’t see any reference in your source code to suggest you are using it currently.
    3. Do you see any realtime data being tracked when visiting your site from an Incognito window?

Feel free to also share any screenshots or recordings of this which will also help us to see what may be the cause here. If you have any questions on the above let me know.

Once you share the information above I can help suggest some next steps for you to take if necessary.

I’m having the same issue. I was getting data, and now I’m not. I have a message to “Redo the plugin setup,” however attempting that solution leads to another error.

    Error: Bad Request

    invalid parameter: ‘site_id

    Hi @adamdunnage,

Thanks so much for the quick response!

    1. I’ve shared the Site Health info via the Google Form.
    2. Indeed, I did not have consent mode turned on. I’ve now enabled this, and installed the recommended consent plugins.
    3. I don’t see any realtime data when in incognito mode.

Here’s a screenshot from the Site Kit dashboard, showing no data coming through since I published the new website (i.e. since 10 June 2024).

@murielgravenor Thanks for sharing the information. Good to hear you followed the consent mode guide and now have everything set up. It may take a day or two for data to start coming through but once users give their consent from the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom, you should start to see that data being tracked.

If you continue to encounter no data then let me know and we can look further into this with you. You can also try asking about this at the Analytics Help Center also.

Thanks @adamdunnage . Unfortuantely there’s still no data coming through (5 days later). If you have any insights let me know; in the meantime I’ll contact the Analytics Help Centre.

@murielgravenor Thanks for the update. Having check your website using https://tagassistant.google.com/, I can’t see any Analytics tags being picked up so it looks like something is blocking the Analytics tag placement on your site.

This could be blocked by a plugin/theme on your site or even at host level. You could first try following our troubleshooting steps here and checking your sites source code to see if you can see the Site Kit placed Analytics code while in troubleshooting mode. You could also manually disable all other plugins apart from Site Kit on your site and let me know and I’d be happy to check your site once more.

You may also want to check in with your hosting provider to check that there is nothing at host level blocking any Site Kit placed code on your site.

Let me know how you get on with the suggestions above.

As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.

Hi @adamdunnage – apologies for the slow reply. I’ve followed the recommended troubleshooting steps:

    1. enabled troubleshooting mode
    2. enabled GSK only (still no realtime data)
    3. switched to default theme twenty-twenty-four (still no data)

therefore it’s likely NOT an issue with the theme or a plugin conflict, right?

I checked the source code in troubleshooting mode, it shows the consent mode code, but it does not show any Analytics code. Seems that GSK is not inserting the code at all?

I’ve contacted the hosting providers (Xneelo) and they confirm there’s nothing on their side that would be blocking the code.

    Any suggestions from your side?

@murielgravenor No problem at all and thanks for trying the steps. One other thing you could try here is disabling all other plugins manually rather than with the Health Check plugin. Sometimes this doesn’t always pick up all possible conflicts so it would be helpful to rule out a conflict entirely before moving on.

Please could you perform all the same checks once just Site Kit is enabled. After this if you are still facing the issue we can look at other ways this might be getting blocked from Site Kit placing the code on your site.

Thanks @adamdunnage – I’ve disabled all plugins except for Site Kit. Still no data, also no Analytics code in the source code (besides the code for consent mode). I also switched to the default WP theme (twenty-twenty-four) – also no Analytics code.

@murielgravenor Thanks again for checking this also. Do you have any browser extensions active currently? It’s worth checking that none of these are blocking the code placement if so by also temporarily disabling them.

If the above doesn’t make a difference, could you please go to this URL which will create a temporary test WordPress site with Site Kit pre-installed. Could you then set up Site Kit here using the same Analytics account and let me know if you can see the code being place on this site?

    (@murielgravenor)

Thanks @adamdunnage – that link doesn’t seem to work on my side?

    (@adamdunnage)

@murielgravenor Interesting! Okay perhaps you could try going to https://app.instawp.io/ and creating a temp site via this platform and install the Site Kit plugin and install as you did on your site?

What I am trying to see here is if this works without issue for you then the problem is likely at the host level. But we won’t know this without this check being made first.

    (@murielgravenor)

Thanks, I’ve set up a site on that platform, but I’m hitting a snag – see screenshots below. The only active plugin on this temp site is Google Site Kit; I’ve deactivated the default “shield security” plugin that came with the install.

@murielgravenor Thanks for sharing those screenshots. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like testing with either is an option to you which is a shame. Would it be possible at all to create a new fresh WordPress site/install on the same host your site is on to test this?

If you’re unsure on the above you can check this with your host also. In the meantime I will perform some more checks on my side and if I find anything I will update you here.
