Can anyone walk me through how to log into Filezilla? I have the host as my wordpress domain, the username works, but the password does not. I am completely new to this and I have no idea what I’m doing. I just know that I crashed my website all because I was coding CSS and added an extra “.” where it wasn’t supposed to be.

Please help!! I really don’t know what else to do!

It is.. that’s why I’m so stressed out about it. What exactly should I ask him for? Im not sure if he will even know what I’m talking about.

You can ask if for FTP details. If he doesn’t understand then you can ask for Hosting provider details, as in where your site is hosted (ie GoDaddy or HostGator).

    WordPress isn’t the host?

WordPress is the CMS. It is like a software which runs on computer. It provides you with the code, which you have to run on your hosting provider. 🙂

Okay, please stand by!! I’ll ask right now and see what I can get. Thank you so so much Hardeep, one second!

    All the best. 🙂

He is taking a while to respond.

When I get the credentials, I login and navigate to /public_html/calhisportsbayarea.com/wp-content/themes/theme45390/includes/sidebar-init.php.
What do I do from there?

Open the sidebar-init.php file from your FTP and then replace all the code with the code which you copied before making the changes. Save the file. It will work properly after that. 🙂

Wait, I’m confused. so I log into filezilla with my username & password that I use with my hosting provider ? or does the hosting provider only provide a password, and I use my wordpress username for the company’s website?

so far it says that the username for the company’s wordpress website is OK, but the password is where authentication fails!

    Your hosting will provide you:

    – FTP host
    – Username
    – Password
    – Port (optional)

And you will need to put that in FileZilla. 🙂

Sounds simple enough, although, is it for sure that we have a host? I’m afraid he won’t understand what that is or tell me that we don’t have a host ha ha..

You can ask where he bought the hosting from and contact them (most offer phone support) to know the details. I’m sure once you tell your hosting provider about it, they will understand it easily. 🙂
