    Hi,
I have installed and created both custom post types and taxonomies…

The post type is called “Rosters” and the taxonomy “Seasons”. The taxonomy title shows in “appearance > menu” but does not show the actual pages created within it (i.e. pages created within the new rosters area).

I have noticed, if I create a page called “2002-2003” I am then required to add text (i.e 2002 – 2003) into the taxonomy are which then shows in the menu are. However, the URL then becomes /rosters/2002-2003-2.

How can I add the pages to the menu (I don’t want to do it by adding links, I want the page to be displayed in the menu area so I can click or drag it to the menu).

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks

When registering the post types, did you click the “advanced options” link to toggle more available options that you can set for the post type? One of them should be a “show in menu” dropdown that you can set to “true”. That should make the post type posts able to be added to the menu.

    Hi,
    Thank you…

Does that mean I can remove the taxonomy?

    Thanks

    Actually,
I have that enabled and it still does not show in the menu.

Just to be certain of what you mean, this is the type of option you’re looking for with your menus correct? My test CPT is “Movies” with “The Crow” being my test post.

    Hi,
Yes, that is what I would like…

I can achieve this if I use the taxonomy then going to the new post type and creating an option in the taxonomy, but the url is different.

If the new post type is called “Rosters” the url becomes “/rosters/”. I would then like a page/post “2002-2003”, so the URL becomes /roster/2002-2003/. I would like to have the option, just like you have done, so I can add it to the menu.

    Thanks

Does it make sense what I’m asking?

I’ve re-read what I’ve said at it may sound confusing.

If I recall right, having years like that in URLs can prove troublesome because of date based archives and queries. An idea I have to help would be to create a different post that doesn’t have those year digits in them and see if that shows up like expected. That may be the best way to tell what’s going on where.

    Hi,
I’ve tried changing the years yet the same problems occur…

They still aren’t showing in the menu.

The page is accessible if I use the direct URL, but the option isnt available to add it to the menu.

My CPT is “Rosters” and the dates being the post. Yet the option isnt available in the menu settings.

Would you be willing to let me into the website directly and see if I can debug what’s going on? I’m running out of ideas to suggest for it from here.

    Sure…

How can I contact you please? Obviously, I do not want to post admin login details here.

    Cheers

    Ready to synchronize forehead slapping?

I checked the Screen options tab in the Appearance > Menu screen. It has all your taxonomies and post type listed, but unchecked. Once I checked the “Rosters” item, it showed up below, including the year posts and test, ready to be added to the menu.

    *forehead slap*
