hello im trying to make the smtp plugin work internally on a web site im testing if i setup the account without authentication it work

if in revenge i try to use authentication i enter my credential on the setting it failed all the time with error :

Could not authenticate your SMTP account.

This means we were able to connect to your SMTP host, but were not able to proceed using the email/password in the settings.

Typically this error is returned when the email or password is not correct or is not what the SMTP host is expecting.

im sure about the user name and password

what else i could check ?

    Regards

    Hi @kerm007

Thank you for keeping us posted.

That really is strange. As another test, can you please try temporarily disabling WP Mail SMTP and then try connecting to your server using the Easy WP SMTP plugin?

It functions similarly to our Other SMTP mailer. This is just a step to see if the user is being blocked.

I know this is a strange suggestion, but it will help us to confirm if this issue is WP Mail SMTP specific.

    Hi @kerm007

I see, in that case, it really does appear that the issue lies on the end of the server rejecting your user. If you’d like you can also look into testing other SMTP plugins, but I believe you’d need specific support related to exchange on prem or you’d need to consider an alternative.

We apologise that we do not have more information/advice specific to exchange on prem.

    Hi

if i use SMTP Authentication set to none it work so it must be something related to user so i will try to check other option i may have

    Thanks

    Hi @kerm007

Based on the tests you’ve performed so far, we can only confirm that the issue doesn’t appear to be related to SMTP plugins.
If I were in your situation, I would honestly consider an alternative.

other than google is there a free alternative ?

    Thanks

    Hi @kerm007

In the lite version of WP Mail SMTP the Google and Other SMTP mailers are free mailers and the Sendinblue mailer offers a “free tier” in there plans.

So you could in theory connect to a different SMTP service using one of the other SMTP services (Yahoo, Outlook, Zoho etc) we’ve listed in the Other SMTP mailer documentation or you can connect to the Sendinblue mailer by following the instructions in this section of our documentation.

    I hope this helps 🙂
