Hi @creativechrisdesign,
Thanks for the details. The WooCommerce\Square\Admin\Product_Editor_Compatibility class was added in Square 5.0 to support WooCommerce’s new product editor, so this error usually points to a conflict or incomplete update.
Could you please share your System Status Report?
You can get a System Status Report by going to WooCommerce > Status > Get system report, then paste it into https://pastebin.com or https://gist.github.com
That’ll give us your WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP versions, theme, and active plugins all at once so we can reproduce this and escalate if needed.
In the meantime, you can roll back to Square 4.9.8 with a plugin like WP Rollback to keep the site stable.
It’s been a while since we heard back from you @creativechrisdesign for this reason we are closing this thread.
If WooCommerce Square has been useful for your store and you appreciate the support you’ve received, we’d truly appreciate it if you could leave us a quick review here:

Feel free to open a new forum topic if you run into any other problem.
Thanks to everyone for your help on this. My understanding is my WooCommerce was not up to the newest version despite no auto-update displaying in my plugins. I am updating everything and hoping the issue will resolve from there.
Hi there!
Thanks for the update! That makes sense — sometimes, auto-updates can miss a release or get delayed depending on your site’s update settings.
Go ahead and update WooCommerce (and any related plugins) to the latest version, then check if the issue is resolved. If the problem persists after updating, please let us know — we’ll be happy to take another look and help you get it sorted.
Thanks @creativechrisdesign !
This was the first plugin to update when I was running updates and then it killed the site. I’ll deactivate, do the updates in and around Square and then go from there.
Worse comes to worse, I’ll sink the time into making an alternative plugin that gets past these issues successfully.
Hi there,
I understand how frustrating that must’ve been. If possible, please try deactivating the Square plugin temporarily and then proceed with updating WooCommerce and other plugins to their latest versions. Once all updates are complete, you can reactivate the Square plugin and check if the issue persists.
If the site breaks again after reactivating the plugin, please create a separate ticket and share the following so we can look into this further:
- A copy of your WooCommerce System Status Report (
WooCommerce > Status > Get system report).
- Any error logs from WooCommerce > Status > Logs related to Square.
Please use https://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com/ and share a link to that paste in reply here. Once we have more information, we’ll be able to assist you further.
We appreciate your patience while we investigate this!
Hi @austinginder
Thank you for sharing the solution. Sometimes using an older version of WooCommerce can cause such issues, and updating the WooCommerce plugin often resolves them. However, the solution you shared may also potentially cause the issue. I will discuss your solution with the team as well.
Could you please create a separate ticket so we can discuss this independently? This way, the team can communicate directly with you if they are not able to replicate the issue using the steps you suggested, and I can share your ticket with my team for reference.
