Also, I asked the tech help for the theme, and they say there is not a optimizer of any kind built in to the theme…if that makes a difference.

Prashant,
I think I have localized the source of the Error. I’m not sure why I did not notice this before, but in the course of trying to test recreating forms out today I realized that one of the seven fields on the original form in question is not being displayed. The omission happens on both the edit-preview and on a live site contact page. Since all of the fields were set to “required”, the form couldn’t be finished.
I have tested recreating the original form in several ways. If I create a new form, add one field at a time, and test the form (add field, save, preview, test, repeat) the problem seems to show up about the fourth field in. This is consistent with the missing field in the original form.
The work around I found is to simply duplicate the non-displaying field, which, as long as the non-displaying field isn’t set to “required”, works. However, this seems like a less than robust solution. I’ve done a bit of web searching and this doesn’t appear to be problem anyone talks about.
I hope this provides a bit of insight.
Hey @wgo1 – Thanks for following on this ticket, and for sharing the details!
When you have some time, can you please share the export copy for the form that you’ve so I can do some testing?
Kindly,

Um…happy to, but (and this is a rather obvious total beginner question) what is the best way to share a file here? I don’t see an attach option, so do I share a Google Drive or Dropbox folder?
Hey @wgo1 – You can upload the file to Google Drive or Dropdox, and share the URL here and I’ll be happy to take a closer look.

There are two exports, both about the same but each one has a different doubled field. The “Required” twin is the one that is displaying for me. The other is not.
Thank you.
Hey @wgo1 – Thanks for sharing the form export file.
I looked into the form, and it appears to be working fine on my local dev setup, and I’m unable to replicate the issue that you’re facing. I see that your website is not launched yet, would it be possible for you to remove the under-construction page as that will help me to take a look into the issue since I’m unable to replicate the issue?

Thank you for looking into it. So, both duplicated fields showed up for you? Interesting.
The site is now live.
Hi @wgo1 — I am Nik, jumping here on behalf of Prashant.
When I checked the form, I see no duplicates form and I also tried to submit the form twice without any error. Reference screen recording here
When you get the chance, could you please review and let me know if I am missing any obvious step here to replicate the issue?
Thanks,

Nik,
Thank you for looking into this as well.
No you are not missing anything obvious. The problem is that fields (usually about the fourth one in) are not displaying. The work around – which is used on the form you tested – is to put in a double of the missing field. I have added some screenshots to illustrate:
- WPForms edit showing one phone field
- Preview with the phone field missing
- WPForms edit showing duplicated phone field
- Preview with one Phone field – the one you tested
If the missing field is marked as “Required” the form throws an error. Does this make sense? I’m not sure I am explaining it very well. The jpegs are in the same folder with the JSON files:

Hi @wgo1 – thank you for your patience here!
I imported both the forms on my test site and the Phone Field is visible with and without marked as required. Here is a reference screencast that I have recorded for you.
I suspect this could be a theme/ plugin conflict.
To troubleshoot this, please try the steps described in our detailed guide on how to test for plugin/theme conflicts.
Hope this helps!

Nik,
I will do the conflict check first thing tomorrow.

I went through the plug ins. It didn’t seem to make a difference.
Hi @wgo1 – Sorry to hear that!
Did you try switching to WordPress Default theme and check?
Thanks,

Thanks for checking in.
I have not tried to switch themes for fear of messing the formatting such as it is.
I will say, I am fairly sure that the conflict is with the theme though. I have tried the same and similar forms on other sites and they work fine.
How difficult is restoring a site after switching back and forth between themes?
