One more question. When using a template, I cannot change content on some pages using a template. It only allows me to change the contents by changing the template itself. How can I change the content without changing the template itself.
Hi @futurist1 ,
To clear things up, let us put this into some points and please let us know if there is misunderstanding form our part.
1. You want to use template “about” on a page let’s say named “page_1”.
2. Then you want to use the same “about” template on a second page named “page_2”.
3. Since this is the same template, the content is also the same. But you want to use the same template layout with the contents coming from the pages (page_1 and page_2)?
To clarify, I created a home page user the Zeever design. The homepage has a menu with a few items in it. Each has a page dedicated which the menu item links to.
I used template “About” for page 2. I added content to that page but nothing appeared on the live page. So I then added content to the template itself. Then it appeared on the live page.
Then, I want to use the same “about” template for page 3, page 4, and page 5. However, each page should have different content. I cannot use the same “about” template page because I cannot add content to the page (only the template itself). That means I have to use a different template for each page which I do not want to do. I want the top and bottom to look the same for each page.
Thank you.
Hi @futurist1 ,
I think we understood the problem now.
Try adding block called “Post Content” to your “about” template, the post content block will load the content from your page while still remain using the template layout.
Unfortunately this did not solve the problem. I can only create new pages if I create a new template.
I want to use one template to create 4 different pages with different content. When I update content on any page, it does not publish to the website. Only if I update the template with content, then it publishes to the website.
Can I speak to you offline somehow please?
Hi @futurist1 ,
To clarify what we meant.
If you assign a template to a page, that template will replace the entirety of the page’s content. You need to add “Post Content” block inside the template which then will render your page’s content inside the “Post Content” block.
If you have header, footer and other sections alongside “Post Content” block inside that template, those parts will stay the same as how they look inside the template, only the “Post Content” block content will differs depend on your page’s content.
