So finally I think this newbie sees the answer to his question in the the above discussion. To my knowledge, I never got an API key (probably) because I got my WordPress blog through a third party. A few moments ago I tried to get an account by “reregistering” my username at WordPress.com, but I was told that the name was already taken. So do I have to create another name and account? And can I still use that new account API key for my third party hosted WordPress blog that I already have even though the accounts are different?
I may be doing something wrong because I am a newbie, but I like person in the post right before me, cannot find that elusive API key. I went to my admin. dashboard and I clicked on the “my Profile” icon and I even clicked on the “User” icon and both took me to the “Your Profile and Personal Options page, but I still didn’t see the API key. And like the member in front of me, I looked for an email, but I never saw one with a key.
If you can help so that I can activate Akismet and other plug ins I would appreciate.
