Same question. I’m trying to use S3 hosted videos inside Sensei, and I’m not finding a solution.

Same here. I’m trying to create a landing page and I want to remove the header and sidebars of my website, but I’m not seeing this option. Is it possible?

In reply to: Single Membership database for multisiteYes – user roles will require manual tweaking on my part, but Multisite User Management plugin does most of the job. So I’m happy.

In reply to: Single Membership database for multisite@ipstenu, thanks for responding! Actually I found a solution. I’m using S2members and Multisite User Management plugins. It’s not perfect, but together they do 95% of what I need. Unless the number of my paid users grows significantly (wouldn’t that be nice!? :)), the rest is manageable.
I’ve been using WP for over 5 years now, but multisite is a new thing for me.
Thanks!@kts915,
Point taken. I agree that “deactivating the Login Welcome Page” was a poor title.
For someone who is not even on the dev team, you’ve been extremely helpful. Many thanks.@kts915
“you can accomplish all that you are looking for if you read the Login Welcome Page instructions, including the replacement codes.”I’m confused. Are you saying there is a replacement code on the Login Welcome page instructions that does that? I’ve looked through all listed there, but none seems to fit. If you could direct me to it, I would be forever your grateful fan! 🙂
In the meantime, I’m going to try the solution offered by Raam Dev on github (and further explained by yourself) and see where it takes me.
P.S. I really like S2, it doest almost everything I need out of the box, except social logins (which I solved) and this user redirection issue. So I agree it’s a great and powerful thing. That’s why I don’t want to change – other plugins don’t offer half of what I need.
BTW, are you on the plugin development team? If social logins and easy user redirection were available on paid version, I’d buy it for any money! (within reason :)) Thanks!
@kts915,
I thought that showing would be better than telling, so if you’re interested,
google “coaching welcome pack”. My website (Almaxa) should come up on the top page. If you go to the article and click ‘download’, you’ll be able to subscribe using any of your social profiles. Then you will be taken back to the page and now will be able to download the file.If you return to any page of my website later, you can click login, and you will remain on the same page you were at.
It’s all about caring for our visitors and making life easy for our subscribers.
I have now moved most of my stuff to a paid website, and finding different articles and downloads may not be easy. I don’t want to upset my paying members. I hope you can see why it’s important.
@kts915, let me give you a VERY typical scenario of how this works for me. I have articles that are public and pdf downloads that are available only to subscribers. Let’s say I wrote an article about abc and offer a download linked from that page related to abc. A visitor comes from Google who stumbled upon my article, and they click download and are asked to subscribe first. Right now, after they subscribe they are taken right back to the page with the download link – now they can download it, they are happy. When I use S2, they are taken to some login welcome page, and there is no way for them to easily find that article with that download again without searching all over my website.
Unfortunately, my plugin doesn’t allow paid subscribers, so I have to find alternatives.
Welshdemon has a different scenario with a forum. People stumble upon a discussion thread they are interested in, but can’t comment unless they are logged in. After they login they have to go on a wild goose chase trying to locate that discussion thread on the forum again.
I don’t know why it’s so difficult for you to appreciate the importance of this functionality. It really is critical for some websites.
@welshdemon,
This is excellent! Perhaps I should reinstate the admin bar. If this works on my website, I have a solution! Thanks a lot!@kts915, thank you very much for your help and suggestions!
“But that IS a Login Welcome page!!”
Yes, it is a login welcome page, but I ONLY want people to be redirected there if login page is their first point of access to my website, e.g. they typed login’s page url directly into their browser. 99% of the time that doesn’t happen. In fact, I can’t think of an instance when it does. They are usually already on my website somewhere, reading something, trying to access something, and then pressing “login”/”register” if they can’t access what they want.
“There has to be somewhere that a member gets sent when logging in.” – yes, and for my website it has to be a protected page that users were trying to access before logging in.
“You seem to have got caught up in the label, instead of the substance.”
No, I’m not caught up in the label. It’s a very important substance, and I need it to work.
I do appreciate all your help and valuable suggestions!
Ah! Sorry, I see! :)) Silly me!
I couldn’t actually see your pic until I refreshed the page several times.
Well, I still have the exact same issue. Even if I reactivate the wordpress admin bar, users won’t see it unless they are actually logged in to the website, which kind of misses the point.
@welshdemon,
I can’t see WordPress admin bar on your website. My users can’t see wordpress admin bar on my website, unless they are already logged in. (well, actually, they can’t see it at all, because I deactivated it.)
What I can see on your website is a dark blue menu bar with “e-mail” “password” “sign in” and “join now” button just below the ad. There is no “my website” link on the top left.
