SOLVED. The issue is related to the WPML plugin that creates for each media a new version for each language installed, therefore until each single media file is permanently deleted in each language library list the file IS NOT deleted in the hosting. Hope it helps others to solve the issue 😉
This is crazy, WPML has a huge impact on a website management but looks like they have no “ear” to listen to critics.
Just tested and confirm that the “delete permanently” does not work (delete from hosting) even if Filebird is deactivated. A suggestion would be really aprpeciated 🙂
