In reply to: WP send mail questionthanks Josh
i was aware of the SMTP plugins, but am still not sure how WP sends mailif the plugin is used, does that mean the domain mail server is not?
does WP use the domain server at all?
or does WP use php mail and, if so, is that separate from the domain mail server?

In reply to: [BulletProof Security] Appeal for New Feature – blacklist integrationread the fine print for those hosts offering “unlimited” bandwidth and disk space – you’ll find that isn’t true
those ultra-cheap, hosts that are offering too good to be true deals, while being fine for testing or a personal home page, are a spammers wet dream
they almost always oversell, their resource usage is often pegged, their tech support is often crap, and their mail servers are often blacklisted
i just got done with a nightmare session from H E double L with the pile of monkeys at [moderated] – what a mistake that was (as most anyone who hangs around lowendtalk knows)
i’m in sort of a corner because i need more control than a web host offers, but am not ready for a VPS – in the mean time i’m using [moderated] and they are, by FAR, the best web host i’ve ever had, but you do pay a little more. [moderated] does not oversell and i have yet to see a single instance of high resource usage. the mail server is troublesome sometimes, but that is to be expected in a shared environment. very good people overall

In reply to: [BulletProof Security] Appeal for New Feature – blacklist integrationi thank you much for your comments and i see your point
myself, i block entire countries (mainly China) because i pay for bandwidth on my shared hosting plan – i don’t like doing that, but i’m also unwilling to pay for the massive amount of bandwidth otherwise
BPS seems to not stop the bulk of this traffic; if i remove the blocks, my bandwidth about doubles from non-human traffic and that’s what i’m trying to avoid
what you need is a BPS-BSD module – Bull Sh*t Detector LOL
take care, and thanks again!

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] emails sent to 2 addresses, only 1 configuredAre you sure that you (or someone else) have not setup email forwarding between these email addresses?

In reply to: [Universal Post Manager] pdf export not workinghi AIT – thanks for chiming in – i’ve been trying to figure out how to disable that on my shared site, but i may not be able to in my case
Tom – thanks – i’m guessing it’s been a very busy jam session for you 🙂
minor issue i noticed…
for pdf export, the following is not placed at the end of the last page…
This page was exported from - 12Bytes.org Export date: Sat Nov 29 23:01:53 2014 / +0000 GMTin the case of this page it is placed before the last paragraph:
http://12bytes.org/productswhich brings me to my next question for which i didn’t find an answer in the available documentation i saw … how does one disable the plugin on a per-page basis? is there a shortcode i can use, or must i do it through post/page categories?

In reply to: [Universal Post Manager] pdf export not workingTom, hope this may help you out…
regarding my post #14, where the error is
FPDF error: Missing or incorrect image file: http://12bytes.org/wp-content/uploads/bs-tunnel-150x150.gif' for pdf export of pagehttp://12bytes.org/products`, that image (bs-tunnel-150×150.gif) is on a totally different page and is not found at all in the source of the ‘products’ pageForum: Plugins
In reply to: [Universal Post Manager] pdf export not workingTom, there are still problems with the plugin – i just re-enabled it, with BPS active also, and tried a pdf export – it seemed like it tried to wok (at least the page loading didn’t just keep churning endlessly) but i got this incorrect error msg:
FPDF error: Missing or incorrect image file: http://12bytes.org/wp-content/uploads/bs-tunnel-150x150.gifthat was from this page:
http://12bytes.org/productsand lastly the print function creates a file that seems to include none of the page content, but rather all of the main menu and sidebar items
from the page below the pdf export did work, but the featured image was duplicated in the file:
http://12bytes.org/products/xotic-pctext export and docx both result in a 404 on each page i tested

In reply to: Media > Image Sizes – brokenanother update…
i have an idea what the problem may be – a while back i manually deleted a pile of disk space wasting images that are auto-generated by WP, but any associated DB entries would not have been deleted – could that be the problem?
[ No bumping please. ]

In reply to: [Universal Post Manager] pdf export not workingi didn’t create a php info file, but BPS tells me: PHP Allow URL fopen: On
i just tested again with a default htaccess file and BPS disabled – the PDF export works, but the contents of the document created does not match the page; image thumbnails are doubled and some content from my home page is included – also the txt export does not work: 404
by the way, i’m using the default 2014 theme just so you know
you can tell me if you want to keep troubleshooting – if not, that’s fine, i understand this may be a rare problem – either way, i’m going to try another plugin like yours just to see what happens

In reply to: [Universal Post Manager] pdf export not workingwell, the BPS dev and myself have been doing allot of testing and he says it ain’t his fault 🙂
he, and i, are getting errors with that plugin disabled – i don’t know why your plugin worked once after disabling BPS, then never again, but that’s what seemed to happen – you can see his thread here…

In reply to: [BulletProof Security] compatibility issue with Universal Post Managerok – thanks
i’ve been testing also and i am now getting problems with the BPS htaccess removed (using default), so i’ll post back to the forum for his plugin
