It may have to do with jQuery: activating WP Support means deactivate anything that has jQuery in your site.
WP Support Plus had itself many Javascript based on jQuery but they got rid of any line containing it.
I like how things are improving, but each update is really painful. I still wouldn’t recommend to update from last 8 version.
