In reply to: .htaccess Filethe htaccess file must be saved with a period in front of it (.htaccess) else the code inside of it is ignored by most servers. Also, I’ve had experiences where the code you are trying to implement needs to be at the top of the .htaccess file due to a server configuration issue in order to not be ignored. One last thing I would suggest is to contact your hosting provider and ask theme if there is another way to add this setting without editing the htaccess file… I did work with one client in the past who’s hosting provider had a custom option available server-side that was able to do this outside of the htaccess file using a checkbox within the control panel.
This is a volunteer based forum so beyond the advice and guidance I’ve already provided I will not be able to help much further. However, another volunteer here might have insight and knowledge different from mine based on their experience with such issues as you are describing.

In reply to: UpdraftPlus plugin has left my site in maintenance modeYou will need to contact your theme developer or the plugin developer for UpdraftPlus or any of your other plugins. I doubt that an unrenewed plugin would have even been running an auto update but that could have been the case too.
The .maintenance file is usually the file that causes the message you shared but it can be caused by a theme or plugin failing to update as well. This thread is for general support with core code from wp.org.
My advice would be to start by contacting Updraft plus support to cancel out their plugin as being an issue after a failed update https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/updraftplus/. If you are able to cancel out their update from having cause the problem then you may want to contact either the theme developer or your hosting support for help.
This is a problem that needs to be brought to the UpdraftPlus support community. You can do so here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/updraftplus/
That said, based on my personal experience with the plugin I think that it is a server configuration conflict with the server that your site is being hosting on or it could possibly be a sub-par hosting plan.
I hope this helps you get headed in the correct direction to finding a solution.

In reply to: Two Factor AuthentificationThis is more of a development question than it is a 2FA question. There are a few plugins that might help you do some of what you want but I think you may need some custom code to actually get your desired results based on the explanation you gave.

In reply to: UpdraftPlus plugin has left my site in maintenance modeBased on what you’ve shared I believe that there were some auto updates to at least one plugin, your theme, or wordpress that failed. This is a common occurrence, especially when auto updates occur. Look in your servers file manager of on the FTP server for a file named maintenance and delete it.
There is no way to know for sure which plugin update or theme update caused this but I would advise running your updates again once you get back into the site to be sure everything updated correctly. Also, based on a lot of experience I have with the UpdraftPlus plugin I do not think that their code or update caused this issue.
Hope this helps you get headed in the correct direct.

In reply to: .htaccess Filehtaccess is directory specific so you will need to add the exact line you just shared into an htaccess file for each directory you want that option to be active for. Where it comes to adding it to htaccess you have the correct line that needs to be added. I usually add it to the bottom of the file if there is other code in the htaccess for the directory I am adding it to. Beyond that the only way it will not be added permanently is if you or someone else helping you manage the website accidentally deletes the htaccess file from a specific directory.

In reply to: Caching/cookies issue onThey may not cache it, but that does not mean your browser is not… Are you saying that you do not use another plugin or theme that could be caching the admin area? Somehow I doubt this cause there were a few cases with sites I managed where the problem was a bug with a theme or plugin that was causing the admin to be cached. It could also be a cookie/history issues that is being cause by a different plugin or your theme. I would suggest using the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/health-check/ to rule out other plugins and your theme from causing the issue.
Unfortunately, I can not help you further since I have not used NitroPack for CDN. Also, there are a few threads from NitroPack’s support area here on wp.org which clearly shows there are problems with their service and other WP plugins
I am sorry but I think NitroPack does not understand the problem you are having and that is why they are not able to provide support to you. Based on my experience over the years I’ve found that many CDN providers end up not being compatible with some server configurations or cache the admin pages but do not clearly understand what their customers are having issues with.
Best of luck finding a solution.
P.S. I personally do not believe that NitroPack is not caching the admin area. I think they are caching parts of the admin area and can not provide assistance because they do not understand that issue you are having.

In reply to: Caching/cookies issue onI’ve been developing wordpress sites for over 13 years and I promise you I did not understand you wrong. I also promise you the admin area can be cached. I’ve had similar issues with some sites I manage and in some cases the issues turned out to be caching/cookie/history issues with the CDN and/or plugins we were using for caching. The fact that the behavior is not consistent tells me the issue is probably caching/cookie/history related because of the cases where i’ve had similar issues. Which plugin are you using for caching?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Caching/cookies issue onThat is not true. There can be caching on the admin area and when you are logged in as a normal user. Again as I said in my earlier post you would need to contact the support for the plugin or CDN you are using for the caching settings. If there is no plugin you are using for this then you will likely need to contact your theme developer to see what features the theme is offering that could be conflicting with what you described. Unfortunately, without a link to your website we are not able to provide you true guidance on where to seek the support you need, even once we have a link to the site we may not be able to provide that guidance.
Start by providing us a link to your homepage. With that myself or other volunteers here on wp.org should be able to use our developer tools to guide you in the correct direction to get the support you are seeking.

In reply to: .htaccess FileThis still doesn’t allow us to help you very well… do you have the code you’re adding? Please share it.
Also, the code might be different based on your hosting/server provider. You might be better off contacting your provider for support.
Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: .htaccess FileIt is hard to provide support without knowing the code you are trying to add to your sites .htaccess. Sometimes the code does not belong in the htaccess file. Please provide further info about what you are trying to add to your htaccess and I will do my best to help you, if I am not able to someone else here in the community might be able to.

Generally though, ePub issues should be discuss with the developer you worked with to develop the site or the developer of the plugin you are using to provide the previews of your ePub books.
Hope this gets you headed in the correct direction.

In reply to: Website not loadingThese are likely issues with your SSL certificate or Web Hosting provider. I would advise calling your hosting provider for assistance with the Server and SSL certificate configuration. The problem could also be getting caused by you being on a low tier hosting plan that needs upgrading for the amount of traffic your site receives.
Hope this gets you headed in the correct direction.
