Hi @storks
Thanks for asking! You can use the following CSS to hide those categories:
#wpbdp-categories { display: none !important; }
Here is a simple way to hide the categories section:
- Go to your WordPress dashboard.
- Navigate to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS.
- Add the CSS code.
I hope that helps.
Hi @minnanart,
To achieve this, you can play with the image settings under Directory > Settings > Appearance > Images. If that doesn’t achieve the look you’re going for, you will likely need to use custom CSS to adjust the size of the image and center it properly.
To help resolve this, please ensure that after adding or editing translations with Loco Translate, you save the changes and clear any caching plugins or server caches that might prevent the new translations from appearing.
Also, sometimes strings are stored in the database or require a refresh. You might want to try re-saving your form fields or fee plans in the Business Directory Plugin settings to trigger an update of the translation strings.
For detailed guidance on translating the plugin using Loco Translate, please refer to our documentation here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/translating-business-directory-plugin-using-loco-translate/
Hi @fedor73
If you are doing this as an administrator, you can change the fee plan on the backend in WordPress. If you are acting as a user would on your site, you won’t be able to change the fee plan at all until the time of renewal. You can only renew on the day the listing is set to expire or after it is expired if you have listings set to renew manually.
Hi @minnanart
Thank you so much for getting in touch.
You can change the “Send Message” button text on the individual listing page to “Send Inquiry” by translating that specific string in the Business Directory Plugin. The plugin supports WordPress text internationalization standards, so you can customize button texts and labels this way.
Many users find using a plugin like Loco Translate to be the easiest method for changing such text strings without touching code. We have detailed documentation on how to translate Business Directory Plugin strings using Loco Translate here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/translating-business-directory-plugin-using-loco-translate/
Hi @fedor73
Business Directory Plugin supports user accounts where users can log in and manage their own listings. To enable this, you should create a page on your site (for example, named “Account access”) and add the shortcode [businessdirectory-manage-listings] to that page. This allows users to log in and manage their listings directly from your site.
Users who log in can see their listings and have options to renew their ads if necessary. The renewal process is integrated into the manage listings interface, making it easy for users to keep their ads active.
For more detailed instructions, please see our documentation on how users can manage their own listings here: How can users manage their own listings?
If by ‘raising’ their listings you mean upgrading to a higher-cost plan, that’s only possible at the time the listing is renewed. If that’s not what you’re asking, please let me know for sure. I’d encourage you to have a look at our Knowledge Base, as it may answer many of your questions: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/
Hi @fedor73
Sorry about that! It looks like our Russian translation is not complete, with only about 23% of the strings in the plugin translated. You can see where we’re at on this page, and we would welcome your contributions! You can learn more about that in our Knowledge Base here:https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/how-to-upgrade-a-translation-file-for-bd/
Hi @fedor73
That feature isn’t available in Business Directory Plugin at the moment. We do have category-specific fields, if that would help. You can learn more about that in our Knowledge Base here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/how-do-i-add-category-specific-fields/
Hey @fedor73
Sometimes thread will get flagged by a moderator when you ask a new question unrelated to the original topic, so feel free to do that in the future.
This issue often happens if the translation files are not placed in the recommended location or if they are not loaded properly by WordPress. The best practice is to upload your translation files (.po and .mo) to the following directory:
wp-content/languages/plugins/
This location ensures that your translations won’t be overwritten during plugin updates and will be properly loaded by WordPress.
If your files are currently in the plugin’s own languages folder (wp-content/plugins/business-directory-plugin/languages/), they might be overwritten on updates or not loaded correctly.
Also, make sure that the file names follow the correct naming convention: business-directory-plugin-ru_RU.po and business-directory-plugin-ru_RU.mo.
Additionally, some parts of the plugin’s text are stored in the database and need to be translated manually in the plugin settings, such as page names, terms and conditions, submit listing messages, email templates, and form field labels. You can find these under Directory → Settings and Directory → Directory Content → Form Fields.
For more detailed instructions on translating the Business Directory Plugin and where to place your translation files, please see our documentation here:

Hi @fedor73
Thank you so much for getting in touch.
It sounds like you may have WordPress comments turned on, as well as Business Directory Plugin comments.
If you want to turn off WordPress comments, you can do that in WordPress under Settings > Discussion.
If you would rather keep those settings for your other posts, you can turn the comments off in Business Directory Plugin under Directory > Settings > Listings > General Settings.
Regarding the issue with the form not sending messages properly and showing that the entry was deleted, please note that Business Directory Plugin does not send emails directly but passes the message to WordPress for sending. Since your site is on a local host, email sending might not be configured correctly. I recommend checking your WordPress email-sending setup and possibly installing an SMTP plugin to handle outgoing emails better.
Please check that and let me know if you run into more issues.
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. We’re really sorry to hear about the experience you’ve had. It’s completely understandable that you’d be frustrated given the time, effort, and cost involved.
We know how important the Map Directions feature was to your project, and can see how the delay in resolving that issue, especially when it was such a critical function for your application, would be incredibly disappointing. We also understand how disheartening it must have been to feel that your concerns weren’t met with the flexibility and understanding you were hoping for. That’s not the kind of experience we want anyone to have.
We appreciate your recognition of the support team’s efforts to help, even if the results fell short. We want to assure you that feedback like yours is taken seriously and helps our team reflect on how we can improve moving forward. Both in product and support experience.
If you’re open to it, We’d love a chance to continue this conversation and see if there’s anything we can do to make this right. Your satisfaction means a lot to us, and we hate knowing you walked away feeling unheard.
