    Thank you!!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. I am in between robotics competitions. I couldn’t get either of those two script jquery instructions to work, but it’s OK because leaving the animation at zero will work for now. It would be nice if the animation setting could be switched to be included as an inline setting like the timeout is, but of course I have no clue how complex this would be for you to change.

Thank you for your fast, helpful, patient, and effective support, as always!! Almost there…

Thanks, that helps fix the delay, but…
Is there a way to set the animation speed per slideshow? I tried doing an inline setting for wppa_animation_speed, but it didn’t seem to do an override. I’m happy to turn Iable IV-B6 off or low as you suggest above, but that isn’t necessarily the effect I’d like for all slideshows on the site.

I tried adding the jQuery suggestion, but I think I don’t know how to add it properly. In the WPPA_text widget window, I tried pasting it right above my wppa shortcode, but it wasn’t interpreted as jquery and just showed up as text.

    Thanks, Karen

Thanks, Jacob… almost there! The last thing outstanding with this is the noticeable delay for the description text.

If you look at the link I emailed you the other day, there are three slideshows. The synchronicity is fine, any minute delays are irrelevant. However, the description presentation is very delayed. The top two slideshows (description only on the left, slide only on the right) are side-by-side, more or less in the configuration I would want them. From watching just those two, it would appear that the two slideshows are just delayed from one another as you indicated because of synchronicity issues; however, this is misleading as the delay is actually between the slide and the description as shown in the next row down which is a third instance of the same slideshow with both slide and description displaying. You can see from this third instance that the pictures in the slideshows are actually quite in sync, and the descriptions in the slideshows are actually quite in sync, but the slide and description within a slideshow are noticeably delayed from one another. This is the delay I’m trying to eliminate. If I can eliminate the delay within the third instance of the slideshow, I feel confident that I can get rid of the delay between the top side-by-side instances as well.

What kind of changes? If you edit the photo at the frontend, the slideshow stops.

If I am correctly understanding the terminology “frontend”, then you are talking about the space where I am displaying the slideshow. I am talking about making changes in the dashboard -> WPPA -> settings page. Once the change takes place, it seems like I should be able to do a <Ctrl-R> refresh on the tab where the slideshow is being displayed, but when I do this, some instances of the slideshow stop and some keep going. For example, I just went in and changed VII D-2.1 setting from “None” to “Classic” and waited for the green checkmark to appear. Then I moved over to the tab where the page is displayed and refreshed with <Ctrl-R> (same result with the “recycle” icon) and one slideshow keeps going and one stays fixed at its current point. Oddly, I just went back to that screen to verify and refreshed the tab again, and this time all the slideshows went back to cycling, but completely out of sync with one another. Changing the setting back to “None” and recycling the tab one more time coincidentally put them back in sync with one another. I can get around all of this, but thought you might recognize the symptoms of the weirdness.

If the user is not an adminstrator or wppa suoeruser, BUT he has Album Admin access, he will also be able to front-end delete the photo, because he could do it at the backend anyway.

It isn’t the permission / authorization I’m having an issue with, I just simply don’t want the button to show up here. I will be creating a place where authorized users can login and upload photos, so I don’t want that option to show up where this slideshow is presented whether someone is logged in or not. The only reason I have this particular slideshow is because it is the only way I know how to abstract the photo caption / description to display alongside the tagged photos I am showing.

I thought I emailed you a link to the development page yesterday, but now I can’t find what I sent, so it looks like I never finished what I was doing. Will email it again now.

The delay isn’t between the two slideshows, it is just on the description within that slideshow. So even if I show the slideshow, it takes time for the description to show up and be replaced for the new image. Is there a way to remove this delay?

I also don’t know how to get rid of the delete button in css because the id keeps changing per image. I tried unchecking VII-D2.7, but that didn’t affect the display of the button.

Thanks, Jacob. I saw those, but didn’t understand that was the “front end”. Are these settings that can be overridden inline? I can envision wanting them for some instances, but not others.

I still can’t figure out how to work around the delay between the two slideshows, and I’m still having to workaround a weird refresh issue. Some settings changes are fine with a normal <ctrl-r> refresh, others need the tab closed and reopened.

OK, as long as I open a new tab with each change I make, I am getting around this successfully. Now the only remaining issue – I can’t figure out how to get rid of the buttons above the description when logged in. I have eliminated the admin’s choice button using a setting in the table. I can get rid of the delete button with CSS. But I don’t know how to get rid of the edit button since there is no id. I’d rather be able to disable all of them at once, but this works except for the edit button. Maybe there is a setting, but I haven’t been able to find it.

UPDATE: I can get the column with the description to cycle through the photos. There is something flaky going on with the refresh of it though. Once I make any WPPA changes, at least that’s all I’ve tested so far, it goes back to being static. On Chrome, neither the reload icon or a <Ctrl-R> starts it cycling again, but if I close the tab and open a new tab, it behaves as it should.

Now that I have a workaround to get it working, I’ll start working on the CSS to see if I can achieve what I want.

Cory, I loaded 1.1.23 to test as well. I was able to get past the scan error and build a package successfully. I have not tried installing the build package, but it seems to be approximately same size files as with the older versions.

Can’t be sure your problem is definitely the same as mine, but the symptoms make it seem like that. Cory was able to get to the bottom of the problem for me and there was actually a bug that he has fixed and will release in their next cycle. It was caused by an old PHP version that they were no longer testing with. You could try the next development version if you know how to do that. I did not bother. For now, I just downgraded back to 1.1.20 until the fix is released.

As an alternative to ftp’ing them to the depot, you can use the wordpress Media upload to bring in your video and then import from that directory instead of your depot. This might be a better workaround in some people’s situation because of ftp access or know-how.
