Thank you so much for your quick response @wfphil. Per your recommendation, I installed the Wordfence Assistant plugin and followed your directions.
Worked like a charm! Thank you!

In reply to: Image Captions Not Appearing with GutenbergHi Samuel,
Ok, thank you for letting me know. I’ll get this post shipshape so I can make it public and try to trouble shoot it that way. I’ll post again with the link here as soon as it’s live.
Do you recommend posting the same issues we’re having with images and Gutenberg here or on separate threads? I really don’t know if the issues are related.

In reply to: [Justified Gallery] Conflict with Smush Lazy LoadingWe’re having the same problem when we enable the lazy loading option on the Autoptimize plugin.
Hey @devnihil,
Thanks for confirming that it’s not the Yoast plugin. I checked my other plugins as well and it doesn’t seem to be related to any of them either.
I’m using the Valenti theme, so I searched the discussion forum on Envato for my theme. Several people mentioned having the exact same problem. From the responses left by the theme developer, it sounds like the culprit for them was the PHP version they were using. Several were using the newest version, and the theme developer recommended rolling back to an older, more widely accepted PHP version, PHP7. I’m guessing that is likely the problem, since I’m running on the current WordPress version, PHP 7.1.33. I have no idea how to revert back to an older PHP version though, nor do I think it’s probably necessary. This glitch with my site is one I can live with, assuming it’s not causing other errors or problems I don’t even know about.
My theme developer is currently on vacation, but I’ll follow up and ask him if he has suggestions.
Thanks!
Hi Pcosta88,
Thanks so much for looking into this. What is a “Tax extension”? To my knowledge, I’m not using one. Is it something like a plugin I’d have to install?
I followed your recommendations, and these are the results.
1. I’m using the recent version of WordPress.
2. The issue DOES persist when Yoast is disabled, so the plugin isn’t causing the problem.
3. It’s not Yoast.
4. I checked the console and found 2 Javascript errors. The first is related to Pinterest. There seems to be a call back issue with the Pinterest code I have on our site. When I disable the widget, the coding issue with cubell themes persists. The second Javascript error is related to a map plugin we purchased some time ago – Interactive World Map. We don’t pay for continued support for it and have never resolved the error, which resolves once the plugin is deactivated. Again though, deactivating the plugin doesn’t resolve the issue with cubell themes.
At this point, it looks like the issue is with my site and is likely tied to my theme. Would you agree? I’m going to go ahead and contact my theme developer and see if he has any troubleshooting suggestions. If you have other tips, please let me know. If not, thanks again for your help!

In reply to: [Autoptimize] Uncaught Reference Error: cbStickySB is not definedAhhh, ok. I *think* I understand. I’ll follow that link you sent and see if I can add the headers via the server. Thanks.

In reply to: [Autoptimize] Uncaught Reference Error: cbStickySB is not definedThanks for your response.
I’m a bit confused. I thought that the AO plugin was supposed to add expires headers. Is that not correct?
re: cbStickyhB You’re right! The issue has been resolved. I have no idea what fixed it, but I kept tweaking settings in the plugin and now the error is gone.

In reply to: [Responsive Gallery Grid] Plugin doesn’t workEither FooGallery or Photo Gallery by Web Dorado.
That’s the problem! I would re-install your plugin and create a gallery for you to see, but it simply isn’t functional on my site. Even with no other gallery plugins installed, when I install your plugin, I don’t see any option to add a gallery beyond the regular options for the native WordPress gallery. It’s like the plugin just isn’t installed.

In reply to: [Responsive Gallery Grid] Plugin doesn’t workWe actually don’t intend to stick with Justified Gallery since the default in the free version is to allow downloading of our images. We have to pay $30/year ongoing to upgrade to Pro just to turn that off. That’s why we’re still shopping around for another plugin. But we do need it to be compatible with another gallery plugin, so if your plugin isn’t, then it won’t work for us either.
Thanks anyway. 🙂

In reply to: [Gallery PhotoBlocks] Very promising, few questionsHey Diego,
Thanks for your response.
1) Cool! We’ll keep our eyes peeled for future updates. Any idea when that might be?
2 & 3) Unfortunately we already disabled the plugin and are now using something different, at least until we can find a permanent gallery solution that fills all of our needs. I was pretty sure I at least took screenshots of the weirdness on our site with the galleries, but I guess not. If we enable it again later and still have problems, I’ll definitely send you screenshots and any error messages from the browser console.
4) That makes sense, and it’s definitely how most of the gallery plugins operate. I definitely understand that about the site speed. I thought that Jetpack Carousel didn’t create additional thumbnails, but I guess I’m not positive. We’re now using another native WP gallery plugin also and it doesn’t seem to create additional thumbnails, though it’s possible I just haven’t found where they’re stored on our server. So far, adding galleries with this other plugin hasn’t increased our server space usage, which is ideal. Thanks for clarifying where your plugin stores the thumbnails.
5) One more question: is your plugin compatible with other gallery plugins, or do you know? We’re looking for a gallery plugin for about 3/4 of our photos that will be lightweight, super easy to use, and visual (like yours), but we also need a second gallery plugin that generates shortcodes and offers e-commerce and watermarking. Is your plugin compatible with galleries like Photo Gallery by Web Dorado, Envira, and FooGallery?
Thanks again! Looking forward to your future release. 🙂

2. Super awesome!
3. Sure. –> https://www.twosmallpotatoes.com/tips-for-moving-overseas-with-pets/
Just scroll to the bottom of the post and you’ll see a simple image gallery with 3 thumbnails in a row. They currently display correctly and open up into a lightbox because we’re testing Justified Gallery, a simple plugin that also uses the native WP gallery. It’s a good alternative at this point to having all of our image galleries broken. Thanks for looking into this,

Hey Craig,
Thanks for following up on this.
Ironically, I just started playing with the plugin coding again today after leaving it for the last couple weeks. I went over the instructions for the workaround you sent over and over and finally it just worked.
Now I have a full width IG feed across the bottom of my site with 6 images pulling randomly from the most recent 33. I also have a 3 column sidebar widget showing 9 images from the most recent 33. Can’t believe it worked! Yes, this issue is definitely resolved, and then some.
Thank you again so much for your help. This is an awesome plugin. 🙂

Hi @kbatdorf,
I’m so sorry I didn’t reply to this sooner! Yes, please mark it as resolved. You definitely answered both questions.
Thank you!
Carrie
Hi Craig,
Thanks for the super fast response! Now that you’ve explained it, I see exactly what you mean. The images are definitely displayed randomly. I just didn’t notice because my most recent 6 images on display happen to all be snowy Alps pics which are really similar.
I followed the link you provided and then followed the directions to insert the correct coding. Unfortunately I couldn’t get it to work. Once I set it to 33 images in Customize –> Layout, it showed 33 images on both my homepage footer (instead of 6) or my sidebar widget (instead of 9). Are there any known themes, plugins, etc that are known to maybe conflict with this coding? I’m not super savvy with this, but I’m pretty sure I followed the directions correctly.
Even if I can’t get it to work, though, I love the plugin! I’ll wait patiently for this feature to be available with the Pro version, or I’ll upgrade.
Thanks for your help,
Carrie @ Two Small Potatoes
Hi Jeremy,
I think that’s exactly what Photon is doing, though I have no idea why. Either way, I can’t use it if it’s doing that since I have 2500+ images on my site and it’s crucial for them to be optimized.
So as you said, that leaves two options. I would prefer to not use Photon if it is caching large versions of my images. I consistently had issues with it also when I was using either of the other 2 image optimizers: W3 Total Cache and EWWW Image Optimizer. While trouble shooting with my web provider, SiteGround, they recommended I not use W3TC, but I would like to continue using EWWW. I individually tested several images with it before doing any batch resizing and didn’t note any loss of resolution or strange resizing issues with it.
So for your latter suggestion, I did as you said and turned off Photon, and my featured images are again downsized/no longer responsive. You can see here how the photos display incorrectly.
http://www.twosmallpotatoes.com/page/18/
I’m starting to think the answer is in the timeline. All photos uploaded after I rolled over to a self hosted site are intact. However, the majority of the featured images used in blogs BEFORE I made the switch are affected when I turn off Photon. I completely forgot but I actually encountered this problem about a year ago when I was tweaking Jetpack settings and turned off Photon. This was months before I ever installed W3TC or EWWW. When Jetpack is installed, do you know if Photon is on by default? Because if so, my self-hosted site has always been relying on Photo to display the correctly sized featured images. How would that even be possible when the images showed correctly when I had a wordpress.com site and when my theme, even self hosted, is responsive?! Does any of this even make sense?
I’m desperate for a resolution to this so I can turn off Photon and resume using EWWW. Ideas??
