hmm, it seems that, atleast for me, the save button is working fine and saving everything. The page itself though isn’t recognising this.

As a web developer I thought I would look a little deeper.

The non techie approach was just create a new post and keep writing little bits and saving. At the same time open the doc in another tab so I have two versions of the same document open and keep reloading this second version to see if the new stuff is saved and whether the revisions go up etc.

Everything worked fine. The only issue was that when I tried to close the page it told me I had unsaved work. So it means the page hasn’t recognised that everything is fine.

The techie answer is:

I opened the web debugger (F12) and checked the network responses since this is an ajax function (I use chrome and web traffic is recorded in the network tab). To non techies that means doing stuff like saving without reloading the page.

The page gets sent to the server fine and the response is that it was saved correctly. So the code on the page needs to recognise the message from the server that the page was saved correctly.

I hope this helps. I haven’t yet noticed any missing content. Others may have lost content or they may think they have because of this message but not actually had a problem.

I note this detail in case anyone decides to fix it. I might get the time but it’s unlikely since I know it’s all working and I don’t know the wordpress code yet.
